Dry mouth

I am drinking all damn day long.  I love water and I did pre op.  I have no problem drinking more than 64 oz a day.  I find myself thirsty still and at night i wake up several time with a mouth drier than sand paper.  It is starting to drive me nuts at night.

anyone else experience this? I am hoping to find a way to beat this.

Yes, I never had it till after RNY.  Also it can be a concern for your teeth.  My dentist said a dry mouth hurts in the protection of your teeth.  Watch it closely and next time you see your dentist ask what can be done.  Brian

I'm the same way, Dan. I'm really dreading that Op-eve when you're supposed to not drink/eat anything after 10pm. Might try chewing gum or something that will keep you salivating. Suck on a button. Not really joking there.

Hope you are doing well.
I found that if I drank water right out of the tape that it never seemed to satisfy.  But if I drank filtered water, or added Crystal Lite, or herbal tea that it made it much more tolerable.  Change up the tempurature also. that seemed to make a difference.

This happens more when I'm sick.  I find that I tend to sleep on my back and not move around much.  Probably open mouth trying to catch flys, but when I wake up, my mouth is absolutly dry to the point of it being painful to swallow.

If I sleep on my side or stomach, I don't have this issue.

Perhaps you are breathing through your mouth a lot and the air in and out is drying things out.
