I just got some labs back and my hematocrit was a little on the low side--38 when the norm is 40 for men. So I guess I'm not doing something right on the vitamin front b/c I haven't been on my period or anything hahaha. I'm going to start taking some ferrous sulfate pills and see what happens.

Yeah I walked around with the delussion that men don't need to take iron because aunt flow doesn't come to our house. I watched my red blood cell count slowly drop and eventually I became anemic, what's worse is that Vitalady for a year was telling me I needed to get on iron (lol...yeah I'm stubborn)....if you've had the RNY or the DS and are a man, you need to take iron

FYI iron can cause constipation...so keep the MOM handy.

I use a product called Tender Iron. It avoids the constipation thing.  I am severly anemic too and take iron to try and bring it up

Congrats on the good report card with the labs.  If you only have to work about your iron being out of whack, sounds like your doing great.  The supps ought to do the trick.  If the taste of the iron pills gets to you, I can recommend the Bariatic Advantage chewable tablet.  Its grape flavored but hides the nasty taste and smell pretty good.  I get pretty sick of all the fruit flavored chewable vitamins  but this one is ok and I don't mind taking it.
