Well my date is SET for 1/5......................... Still waiting on some info from the insr co but it looks like its a GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were very complimentary of my documentation.

The one thing that is SO FUNNY  is that Weigh****chers states that I will NOT be able to use them as part of my support system once I have surgery.  Well,,, that is unless I can get a letter from the doctors explaining my procedure and that rapid weight loss is emanate and a part of the process.. That WONT be a problem because the Doctors have all said they would write the letter when the time comes. But,,, I HAVE NEVER been told I could get kicked out of one of these programs because I LOST WEIGHT TOO FAST.. According to my meeting leader SHE can get in trouble if anyone in her group LOOSES weight too fast and can actually loose her job unless I have a doctor's recommendation to continue after surgery. I guess Im luck that my DOCTOR supports that.  Honestly after being in this situation EVER in my life. Honestly it kind feels good that I could get kicked out for success instead of failure.

It's all about the money, honey. The faster you lose the weight the less meetings you have to attend and the dirty ***** knows that, too.

That was my first thought as well. But the point is that in most cases a person who loses too much weight too fast prob has a medical or psychiatric problem that causes it. The letter that I have to produce from the Drs I understand as just a way to cover their buts. Its really no BIG deal.. But, Who would have thought "I" would be facing something like that.

They used to have a thing too that if you made goal you could come back for just a meeting fee. You didn't have to start over.  You would be able to do that w/surgery and they would lose money.

Yes they still do that but, you still have to go back once a month to get weighed in if you make life time and gain any of it back you have to pay till you're back at goal..... Surgery would be kind of an unfair advantage I suppose. But, HONESTLY,, its a GREAT support system for me.. Its close to home.. I really dont have a WLS support group close to me. This is the next best thing until I can find one that fits into my schedule.

As a new preop why would you want to go to WW? Their needs are much different then yours. I can understand at a year or two when you enter into the maintence phase, but before then? IMHO you'd be better off at a WLS support group meeting.

Support really.. Honestly I tried to find a WLS support group in my area however there arent that many and the ones I have near by (with in a 30 min drive) are just not going to work with my schedule. So this will give me some kind of moral and emotional support as well as a weekly weigh in.  The group that I have been going to is REALLY supportive,,, in fact they're throwing me a PRE SURGERY party next weekend. I really want to get to life time so that I can get the free meetings ( I know after surgery it will be like cheating)
I brought it up to my surgeon, dietitian, pcp etc all support the idea openly because it promotes proper nutrition our diets change but nutrition is still very important. I got approved with in four hours of my paper work being sent over to the insr company, they say that was in part to my documentiation and in part to the fact that Weigh****chers was constently mentioned as part of my action plan after surgery. If I said I was going to do it I PLAN on doing it. At least until I can get into some WLS related that works for me.
Weigh****chers is currently working on a program that will be geared toward WLS patients. There is hope that it will be unrolled in the next year or so. That would be nice because just about every community has one.

BRAD:  Congrats on the date, bud.  I know you have worked hard for that date.  I'm with Scott -- I wouldn't think WW would match your post WLS needs.  Michael

Thanks Michael I guess its time I got cut like the rest of you...  ITS ABOUT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My all of my medical people are supportive of Weigh****chers after surgery.. They said most people dont but its  a good idea and my insurance co seamed to LOVE the fact that I was going to stick with it.  Frankly I like like going in every week and watching the scale getting lower and lower.
