I am back from the hospital, had surgery on Monday.  Got out of bed as soon as possible and started walking.  Didn't resist the pain meds though and got some rest too.  Got to leave the hospital on Wednesday 11:30.  I was happy to get home.  I think my brain has to catch up to my body.  I can't wait for the fluids to be done with this week.  Next Tuesday I get to do mushy soups and stuff.  Thanks to everyone for the support.  I think the worst part of the whole thing, other than my nerves was the heprin shots and the catheter.  I never want to do that again.

Welcome home Bob....already makin a space for you on our locker room losers bench! Believe me...things will get much better...just remember to listen to your doc and NUT. Soon your only regret will be that you didn't have the surgery sooner. So enjoy(?) your liquid diet and soon your soft foods...hang in there...its well worth it!!!            John

Welcome back dude!

Yeah I hear ya on the clear liquid phase. Protien powder just doesn't taste the same in water as it does in soy milk. Try adding some hot sauce or soy in chicken/beef broth to change it up a bit. Tuesday can't come quick enough for some creamed soups. I was just at wallymart and noticed there's some really nice cream ones now. even butternut squash. My friend swears by the La Madeline Tomato Basil soup if you see that (comes in jars and kinda pricey).

Now i'm trying to figure out the difference between creamed soups and blended foods. Is blended to solid still? (that's 3rd phase for moi).

Luckily I haven't had to take the pain pills or the heartburn meds.

Hang in there man. Don't jump the gun on foods. Trust me you will pay even if it is only real PAIN and not actual damage to your new stomach. You put in too much to effort to scew with the surgery. Those first few weeks are pretty rough. Your mind says 'GIVE ME REAL FOOD NOW!' And you learn (the hard way) that your stomach says 'Stay the F*&k away from me!'

It does get MUCH better. Just need to make it through. 2 months and I was doing good. My head was not any where near as bad and my stomach felt much better with what i gave it. Listen to the stomach.

Im in the same situation with the fluids, but I am in no hurry to try solid food yet, am afraid I will return to my previous habits, I still have a lot to learn and am enjoying limited options for now.
