OK,  so, I'm getting ready and looking forward (mostly) to my trip to California for Christmas and New Years.  I will be visiting my parents and brothers and taking my whole family with.  This is usually a time for lots of eating and talking.  A lot of my old emotional issues get triggered being around my family of origin for such a long period of time.

Do you guys have any strategies for staying on track and handling the emotions and temptations of this season?

Walking, walking and more walking.  Someone need something at the store.  I'll walk or borrow a bike and get it.  Any projects around the house...I'll do them (pruning shrubs, washing windows, gutters...  Try to avoid the relax and eat.  When I went to my brother's house, I just excused myself and went for a walk.  Most people will understand.  If it's cold or rainy...find the local mall and window shop (avoiding the junk...bring a water bottle with you to remind you to keep on the straight and narrow).  Brian

Make every excuse you can think of to take the kids to see and do everything.  Keeping up with them will be exausting and you won't have time for the emotional rollercoaster.  Be sure to keep your nutritional snacks close, and drink your water.

Have a great Holiday,

Robert

Stephan,

I'll echo what everyone else had said and add to that it can be a chance to educate your family more about WLS.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
