Sugar Bowl IDGOMB FART
So, the day came and went yesterday. The day I have been looking forward to. The day when I would be able to ski at Lake Tahoe with my family and my longest friend (since we were infants).
Yesterday provided us with the perfect day to go up with lots of snow but no bad weather to go along with it. The only bummer (with the addition of how damn expensive skiing is) was that my wife's shoulder was bothering her and she didn't make it. My daughter and son came along though and we headed up to Sugar Bowl early in the morning. We got up early (5:30am) and headed for the mountains. I had brought along some chains not thinking I would need them..., but I did. Putting on chains is something I would have absolutely dreaded pre wls, but it wasn't that big a deal getting down on my knees and reaching behind the tires getting everything attached. I did ask someone more experienced to review my work to make sure that they were on properly as I hadn't put on chains before. In Wisconsin we never use chains.
So, we got up there and wow, I almost felt like a teenager again. I was able to ski all day long. I never munched once and went down intermediate as well as black diamond runs with lots of powder and moguls. I didn't get winded and best of all I kept up with my friend who is an expert skier.
Wanted to share that with you guys since it was such a special day. I hope to get up once more next week before my vacation is up.
The other thing that was fun for me was running with my son here in Davis, California. First of all, the weather is warm enough to run outside. That in and of itself is special. But, I got to run about 4 miles with him around the UC Davis Arboretum where I used to run as a teenager. My legs still feel heavy when I run, but I stick with it and after a mile or so, start to feel more comfortable.
Hope you all have a great holiday season. I will check in from time to time, but one of the things I am trying to do is take a break from computers as well.

Merry Christmas to all!
I did get off my butt as usual, but with a slight change of pace. I made a protected .WMV ipod video into a DVD and put it on the TV. It's two hours long, but I went the distance without getting bored. Pretty hard stuff by Bryan Kest, the author of the Power Yoga series.
I was a little surprised to find out that no one, even in India did yoga as exercise until around 1930. Think it resembles gymnastics? Well they're not sure, but Indian Wrestlers were using a British gymnastics text as a source of training exercises and the poses are really similar to that combined with karate training. But then, who knows what the way-back-when origin of gymnastics may be?
Best Wishes,
Dave
