I need some man food!!!
Lifesavers has what they call Pepomint and Wintoment that are sugar free. They come in either a blue or green bag and will be near the chewing gum. We keep them in a bowl on the coffee table. Sugar alcohols may give you the winds if you get too many but while your farts will smell bad your breath will be minty fresh!
Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
Things I keep in my pockets and snack on: Beef jerkey, dry roasted peanuts, plain almonds and walnuts, plain sunflower seeds, plain pumpkin seeds, raisins, dry roasted soy nuts. If you're busy, at least get in a protein shake or carry some type of protein bar with you. I also eat Healthy Choice Lemon Fish Dinners alot...Boring but the fish is really good. I crockpot too. I add lean beef and vegetables...salt pepper and spices. I prepare it the night before and then cook it for hours while I'm out. I freeze 2/3s of it for later in small containers. Beef vegetable or chicken vegetable soups...boring but they work in a pinch. Good luck...and as others have said...don't skip meals. It can cause loss of muscle mass. Brian

I need some man food, I am not into the yogurt and cottage cheese. I just about never eat any breakfast or lunch and I need to start eating. I am only 2 months post op and want to get on the good track and stick to it.Any advice? What about healthy snack food?
I must say that the best food for me since surg has been a scoop of cottage cheese with a canned fish on the side. Tuna is blah, but smoked herrings, sardines, oysters...they're a great source of protein. The lactose from the milk rev me up quickly, then the solid proteins from the fish and whey keep me going for a long time. Not to mention all the great Omega-3s people are ranting and raving about.
If cottage cheese is just too girly for you, then try cold cuts. grab a few different varieties, pair them with good cheese, sprinkle some nuts and a piece of dried fruit or two, couple of pickled things on a plate and have a taste-orgy. it's like controlled snacking. STRESS ON THE GOOD CHEESE. Don't waste your time with crap processed crap.
beef jerkey, This is for a flavored (terriyaki). I make my own without the sweet stuff added for flavor, just pepper and dry rub seasonings. You can get rid of almost all of the carbs and some of the fat by eliminating the marinade.
