Here's where I am...

OK - in an effort to get some more discussion going, and in response to sjbob's note.

I don't think its a FART, but I am down 60 pounds as of this week. That is a wonderful thing for me! I am no longer obese, just overweight!

I am still struggling to get all of my protein in. I am getting probably 40-45 g per day rather than the 75-80 that I need. I saw the nut yesterday, and she gave me some samples of protein addititives (Unjury, Beneprotein) and Omega 3 supplements. I have an issue with the hair loss, and these should help it. I will also be introducing a small snack in the afternoon, nuts and dried fruit usually, or some other higher protein type snack. Nut said that along with the low protein, I am not getting enough food period. Well - that is a first for me!

On the positive side, I am healthier and happier than I have been in a LONG time. My water intake is good, and don't seem to be having any other negative effects besides the hair loss. My calcium intake is also a little low, but will probably be ok, but we are adding another calcium tab to be safe (1200-1500 mg per day).

I think it is a great fart. Good for you in being proactive about food and protein etc.

I have a couple of remarks.  First of all, I would salute your weight loss especially considering where you started.  I originally had a rapid large weight loss but I started out at 571.  I'm glad that docs and ins companies are seeing the values of WLS and that men don't have to be enormous or hopeless before they get the WLS.  I would have loved to have had WLS way back about 20 years ago when I was closer to your starting weight.

As to the extra protein, I use Advantage bars--either the early morning bars or the regular bars.  They are all relatively low carb bars.  As for protein powder, I use the Syntrax powders.  Strangely, I don't even bother to make a shake.  I just keep a spoon nearby and have some of the powder in a jar.  I can have the protein in the same way that I would otherwise have candy.  I have 2-3 tsp at a time a few times a day.

It's great that you are feeling healthier and happier.  As to the calcium, do as the nut and docs recommend and have periodic blood tests to check your various vitamin levels.
