clothes shopping
I went to the men's warehouse today and bought new clothes again. I loved it but I noticed something funny. I love colors. When I was big, it was white, blue or black shirts, now it is burgundy, green, orange and other colors. No more blah colors, something bright. I still won;t spend a 100 dollars on jeans but I spend 40 bucks on a shirt if it is marked down. Have you noticed no more blah colors or I'm I alone?
It wasn't so much the colors and the style. Before it would be things like sweat pants and Homer Simpson polo shirts. Now it is more long sleeve shirts (because I am cold all the time) and cord or fitting jeans. I haven't bought anything through LL Bean, but have looked. Would never have done that pre op. Before it was more..."Does Walmart have my size shirt for $2.00 more. Brian
During my rapid loss phase my wie discovere the thrift shop and goodwill. Now I have more clothes and a better variety than I ever did before. Its so much easier to buy mediums and larges than it was to buy3or 4xl. It is amazing the good stuff you can find if you look enough at these stores. I am going to the pool rehab today and I am going to be wearing my polo trunks that my wife found for a quarter, (brand new with tags still on!) She gets the biggest kick out of a good deal.

Thrift shops and goodwill are definately the way to go, why pay out your ass for clothes that will only fit for a month or so. Once you get down to your goal then worry about shopping for the nice clothes. It will be nice to never have to step foot in the Casual Male store ever again. Burlington Coat Factory is another store to keep in mind, they have some nice clothes for cheap there.
Dan you struck a cord with me there - Casual Male - UGH! Only place I could shop and still look nice and not like a slob. Those prices kill me! And what is up with that name 'Casual Male'? That described me to a 'T' - I was as casual as you could get about food and exercise before my WLS.

One thing that irked me with Casual Male and pissed me off enough to actually write them a letter was that in thier pictures and catalogs you never once saw a fat or even close to fat person. Yeah all the clothing looked great on the people there, but we just continued to look like blimps in the sky wearing them. Also the quality sucked bad. My clothes would always fall apart, lose threading, rip/tear, whatever. The only brand I actually did like from there was the Synergy and 626 Blue, they actually did a decent job. Synergy, although a tad long, had some great shirts and 626 Blue had some pretty comfy jeans and shorts.
I'm staying away as long as possible, but my pants and shirts are getting a tad on the loose and curtainy. I may have to give in soon LOL. I've actually had to stop wearing my suspenders cause my pants looked horrible without a belt.

Hey I am with you on the colors. I even look from some style. I was stuck in the preppy 80's. Still lean that way but trying to update a little. Still not buying much because I still have 40 odd pounds to go but what I do get gets to be 'different'. The choices in a plain old 'large' are just awesome!
How sweet it is. Not only have I started buying clothing with color, but I have started buying clothes. Last night I was looking in my closet and realized that I had about twenty shirts, and not a single one of them had an "X" on the size. Much better than the bland wardrobe that I used to have that was mostly white and gray, with lots of "X"'s.
And pants. Love buying Levies again. 501's. They fit like a glove. A couple of months ago I bought several pairs of size 38 (much better than my former 56's). I must admit that they were a tight fit, but my pride forced me in to them with a little struggle. Guess what, I can now just slide them off without undoing a single button. Cool.
I think that I have traded addition for another................
Such is life.
