For the past two days I have been hungry after lunch.  I eat the same thing everyday for lunch.  4oz of turkey and 2 slices of cheese.  Today I adding yogurt to the mix.

My question is how do you know when you are stretching your pouch out? and what should I do if I am.

"Stretching the pouch" is a myth, but it may be possible to temporarily desensitize the fullness sensation.

I've been adding high fiber stuff like grapefruit, large hard mushrooms and bamboo shoots to fill me up for longer. The bamboo shoots were a particular effective one.

Fiber foods are also said to cause weight loss, even moreso I would imagine, if you have a bypass.

4oz of Turkey and a few slices of cheese will do nothing for me. I would say, add some veggies to that and it will fill you up. Maybe a side salad or some carrot sticks. It's amazing how much just chewing carrot sticks makes you feel fuller for a longer period of time.

I can't tell when you had your WLS.  If you joined OH when you had your surgery and are only 5 months post op, then I'd say that your pouch is still growing into what will be it's normal size.  I mentioned this the other day:  when we have surgery, the pouch is about the size of your thumb but within 6 months it grown to be about the size of your fist.  It can obviously hold more food at that time.  And, if you don't bring up the volume and calorie count of your food, then you will be hungry and not merely feel hungry.

How long after lunch do you feel hungry?  if it's right after the meal, you should follow the advice given here.  However, if you are feeling hungry about 2-3 hours later, then you may want to add a mini high protein meal such as a protein shake or some yogurt or 2 oz of meat or cheese.

My doc wants me to break up my meals into smaller ones every 3-4 hours or so before I start getting super hungry.

It also helps keep your metabolism going so you don't get into starvation mode. Be careful not to just graze on carbs though, make sure you're getting in good protein or maybe an apple or some veggies. Anything you have to chew on really keeps you fuller longer, even if only in your head.
