A minor miracle-in my mind anyway

Today something happened that I would have thought  impossible back in Dec.  My wife loves to bake and I, carb addict that I am, have been unable to resist eating her cookies.  Well, today she baked dozens of cookies and had them on cooling racks on our dining room table.  I saw them and didn't even think about having just one.  Wow!

I've been planning my meals.  And, even though I haven't always been true to my plans, I've been brutally honest in writing down everything that I eat.  I've been weighing and measuring.  I got a book that shows calories, carbs, proteins, and more but I'm mainly interested in the calories and protein.  However, I have atrial fibrilation and I'm on coumadin.  So I have to be aware of how much vitamin K  I have.  So, I took my lists of foods' vitamin K levels (low, medium, or high) and put that info in my calorie counting book.  It's easier to do it once and be able to go to one source for all of that information.

Great job! I was always more aware when I am being brutally honest  in writing down everything I eat I always look at it before putting anything in my mouth and think about why I am eating it and if it is worthy of being eaten. The best part of tracking what I eat like that is I like to review before bed and hold myself accountable for what I have done and reward myself for a job well done. If I find I screwed up I review it and determine how I could have made better choices and I also like to write down what time I eat and how I feel to see if I can find triggers about eating. If I am happy about my results I find a way to reward my results like setting a little bit of cash aside for something I want or maybe rent a pay per view movie I have been wanting to see. maybe even just taking a day to go down to the river and throw a line in the water anything like that. Keep up the great work I think you are making headway.
