I am about to have a VSG.. hopefully within next 3-4 weeks, just waiting for a surgery schedule.
hehe...Dr. Poplowski's staff thinks I am a pain in the ass... I must have caleed them about a 100 times so far!
As far as RNY... well malabsorption was not an option for me and DS too invasive.
Call me a WLS wimp...
I am curious abut new surgery thuo "Vergito"  - sounds intertesting, any comments?

A buddy of mine (she's a girl) lost 180lbs with the VSG so I think i'ts a decent option but no one knows the longterm stuff about it. There's only about 4-5 years of research on the VSG so we'll have to see. I know the surgery is a little less complicated than the RNY/DS but you still keep the duodenum intact but you lose most of your stomach so if you ever need more stomach/revision, etc then you won't have it available. Good luck!

months out adn could not be happier with my VSG. All the infos in the profile. It was a  super easy surgery and recovery. Life is great and the sex is even better.
if yhave any specific question fire away here or in PM, my journey is an open book

I got the DS and I love it, my advise get the whole enchilada. unless your a light weight then the VSG might make more sense. And as far as ever needing more stomach WTF? that what got me here. :)
DS folks don't get revisions, cept for a couple people who lost too much or wouldn't take their vitamins. (when I say a couple I only know of 1, and heard of another one) And they didn't need more stomach they just reroute their  guts so no more malabsorption.
I have to admit the DS scared me at first also, that was mostly because of the BS and accidental misinformation given from other surgery types who don't know as much as they think about the DS. either way good luck to you and enjoy the ride, i wish you much success.

I had the VSG almost 2 years ago --went from 284 to 204 -- I am 52, 5'11". I had no problems with the procedure and the fact that I can eat normally with having to consume protein or extra vitamins was of great appeal to me.
