Got off my butt and stayed off it!
Well I am pretty sure I have mentioned on this board before that I wasn't getting much exercise before or after my surgery in October.
I finally got my act together a few weeks ago and got a decent stationary bike. I now ride that sucker 6 days a week for 30-40 mins at a time. The intensity of the workouts have been increasing as well and it feels great! My ass hates me though cuz that seat starts to hurt about halfway through the workout :)
I upped the ante last week and got a smith machine and on Saturday bought some padding floor tiles, curl bar, and dumbells. I have 300lbs of weight to start with so I won't need to buy anymore for awhile. I started my StrongLifts 5x5 workout on Saturday night but starting this week I will be going to a Mon-Wed-Fri workout on the weights. My thighs are still sore for doing squats - haven't done strength training for 18 years. I used to bench 315, squat 455, and deadlift 425 - I forward to increasing my strength, muscle mass, and improving my cardio and endurance.
So far the bike riding alone has given me so much energy. I find myself more awake and alert these days - feels like my entire life is coming out of a thick fog and sometimes it makes me sad at how I was just fumbling alone in life, but that sadness doesn't last because I am so damn happy with where my life is headed now.
3.5 months post op and down a total of 119 lbs from my heaviest and 93 lbs since surgery weigh in. I have 121 lbs to reach my goal of 185 (which maybe a moving target if I can get my muscle mass up.
Also proud to say that I have inspired my wife to workout with me on the bike and the weights and she started weigh****chers last week. The receptionist at work started going to the gym and said I was an inspiration to her as well.
