VITAMINS
My question is How do you take your vitamins with small tummys and/or tubeses? I HATE the taste of vitamins and can't imagine eating some powerded up or halved pieces. It's tough enough taking down my PrilosecOTC. I have, however, compared Flintstones chewables to the typical oneaday and they compare pretty darn well and chew pretty darn well too!
As usual, even though they are sitting on the counter next to my keys, I forget to take them. This is one reason I'd never be able to survive a DS procedure! I can't remember to take pills worth a damn!
Cheers!

I take Centrum adult chewable -- orange flavor. Not too bad. I too am bad about taking pills (always have been), but I know I HAVE to do it. I keep them by the coffee, one member put them on a paper plate each day on the counter. Therefore he knew when they were gone off the plate, he was done. Gotta figure out a reminder. Good luck
Between my medications, vitamins, and other OTCs, I take 27 pills a day. Only 1 is a chewable. Depending on what you need, you can get an inexpensive pill splitter at a pharmacy. In addition to a multi-vitamin, I take vitamin A, B1, B12 sublingual dots, C, Iron, Calcium + D, Iron, prescribed D twice a week, prescribed potassium plus my meds. My doctor regularly checks my blood. Part of the reasoning for that is that I take Depakote for manic-depression and it affects the liver. So, I need to reqularly have liver function tests besides my other blood panels.
I take most of my meds in the morning but there are others that have to be taken in the evening. Among the evening pills are the iron and vitamin C. I also need to have an additional dose of the calcium + D but that has to be taken 2 or 3 hours before or after I take the Iron and C or they affect each other.

I get my calcium from colonial med, usually around $13.00 for a couple month supply

Like others have said I get my others at Walmart, CVS, Walgreens Rite Aid, where ever there is a buy one get one free offer.
B12 sublingual
B Complex
Centrum Chewable
My Surgeon has just start recommending Bariatric Fusion (4 chewables a day that contain all we need) that run about $25.00 a month. I am trying to figure out how much I spend now, to decide if these are much more expensive.
Good luck with your surgery.

This is one of the most important and overlooked subjects on the boards. Your vitamins and supplements are more important now than ever before in your life, due to diet and mal-absorbtion. A good quality adult vitamin is the basic for a good start. The supplements should be based on the docs program. After you have your first bloodwork done, he will adjust, add or change based on the results. My numbers have always been good, except for B12. I am now on the prescription nasal spray.
I take a daily from GNC (Ultra Mega). I have been taking them for years, long before surgery. I am usually not negative in my posts, but childrens vitamins are not suitable for post-surgery adults. They are OK right after surgery as a good way to get in some vitamins, but will not be enough for you long term.
Feel good and be well.

I do the Walgreen Bariatric formula. They're pricey, but I don't want to take the calcium citrate, iron, and microminerals as separate supplements. Another good thing about them is you can take smaller quanities of these chewables throughout the day. They are a 4 times a day supplement as opposed to a once a day. My suspicion is that this makes them more effective, but no sure if there's any proof to that.
