The Doctor and the booze
My surgern told me to not to stop of with the guys afterwork for a tall one. The he said to give my wife the key to the basement wine racks. At 3 mos, out and eat'n 3 meals, Ok, I am gett'n the picture. When can I have a glass of wine with my meal? He said the cutt'n he did should be healed, but the effects of 1-2 glasses will knock you for a loop - no driving, talking or sex. You wont be able to either well. I'am not a boozer but we're part French and we drink wine with our evening meal
Need imput!!

My surgeon also told me not to have any alcohol either....if I did I would become a cheap date and get drunk very fast! My Nut also said that there are many empty calories in booze and there is no nutritional value. Kinda goes against all our rules for WLS. Plus my doc sez no drinking anything 30 min before or after eating!!
My Dr. recommends against it from a purely nutritional standpoint. I'm around 3 1/2 months out and i've had beer maybe 4 times over the past 2 months. I definitely noticed getting buzzed a little bit quicker, but it wasn't so much that I couldn't function after one or two beers. I've limited myself due to nutrition as well, when you are logging your calories (i use livestrong/daily plate) it is amazing what 3 beers can add up to calorie wise.
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

My advice is to stay away from alcohol for at least the first 9 months post. With no holding tank (stommach) the alcohol goes straight to the bloodstream and will get you snockered on 1 beer or drink. Likewise, if after you drink, you down a bottle of water, by the time you fini**** you can be sober.
I drink once in a while and every time I do I realize it isnt worth it. For every beer I drink I have to get up in the middle of the night and **** twice. Instead of a hangover, my body feels out of wack for a couple of days, I'm guessing because of the dehydration.
For the first year you need to stay hydrated and the alcohol will totally screw that up.

Never developed much of a taste for wine. But I like a glass of whiskey now and then. And I'll echo what others have said: The buzz I used to get over a period of time and increase with the amount of alcohol consumed, is now almost instantaneous. About 10 oz of a good strong 50/50 Crown and coke and I'm loopy for a hour or two. Some people have talked about an increased hunger for alcohol now that their eating is under control, but I haven't noticed any uptick in my drinking. Nor do I think there will be one.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
