Almost 4 months out - what did you eat?
I am almost 4 months out from my RNY.
It seems that the weight loss has come to a crawl and so I am cautious about what I am eating now. Care to share what you were eating at this point and how much you ate?
Yesterday I feel I ate a lot but I was trying to get in more protein.
Breakfast: Omelet - 3 eggs, 2 oz ham (96% fat free), tomatoes, onions, 1/4 cup of fat free cheese (400 calories, 37 grams protein)
Lunch: 5 oz (pre cooked weight) ribeye and 2 oz protein bar (565 calories, 55 grams protein)
Dinner: 4 oz (pre cooked weight) 96% fat free ground beef, fat free cheese, tomotoes, onions, lettuce, whole wheat small tortilla, 6 oz fat free light yogurt (400 calories, 36 grams protein)
Like I said that was a ton of food. I didn't finish the omelet but I was able to finish the other food. first time I have been able to get more than 100 grams of protein in a day. Usually 60-80 grams. Makes me wonder if yesterday I ate too much or if most days I am eating too little. I usually have about 800 calories of a food a day but I wanted to mix it up a little yesterday - backfired and I went up almost 2 lbs.
Today is typical day and breakfast will be a yogurt and lunch will be a can of tuna (straight from the can) Not sure what will be for dinner.
I have lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks and so I wonder if I need to curb what I eat or eat more? It is confusing at times and I don't want to screw this up. I don't snack and I have conquered head hunger early on. I just want to be healthy and continue to lose.
This forum keeps me positive and on the move. My wife has said "I think you are done losing". I tell her that stalls are normal and that I am bound to slow down the weight loss at this point. However doubts creep in, and mostly I wonder if I am doing something wrong.
Thanks

Hi Dan,
I start my day with a soy protein shake
half a cup of soy milk and half a cup of water
2 scoops of soy protein powder
half a banana
sugar free hot chocolate mix
ice in a blender
Lunch is usually salmon and salad
Dinner is lean protein and veggies or potato
I throw in an orange during the day and almonds.
of course liquids in between

I'm in the same boat as you, my surgery date is 3 days after yours and I've definitely leveled off on my losing. I was getting something like 1 to 1.5 lbs a day, now I'm getting more like 2 lbs a week (past 2 or 3 weeks). I typically get around 900 to 1100 calories and between 80 and 90 grams of protein a day. I've been hitting the gym around 5 days a week for nearly 2 hours. I do breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an evening snack (whi*****ludes protein shake).
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

I won't share the amounts...don't remember. But here are some of the things I ate early on; Wendy's Chili...I would add my own cheese. Egg or tuna salad...I would add low fat mayo and sugar free pickle relish (Mt. Olive)...also put in a little salt and pepper. A lean piece of luncheon meat wrapped around a piece of string cheese and a piece of dark green lettuce...add a little mayo and mustard. I would (and still do) cook (microwave) a small amount of frozen spinach every other day...add salt. I would eat about a 1/5 of a banana over the course of the day. I would buy a Carl's Jr. grilled chicken sandwich and use the bottom bun...throw away the top...I would also dab all the grease and sauce off the chicken...keep the tomato and lettuce. Plain yogurt with fresh or frozen berries. Cottage cheese with the same. Grill a good quality steak or chicken breast. Cook some frozen mixed vegetables. Find a protein shake you can stomach...If you are stuck on finding a good one. Bon Apetit
4 months out seems like forever ago. I was tracking my intake on dailyplate.com back then though. I was working real hard at staying around 1200 calories per day while getting my protein grams up over 100. There were lots of days when I strayed up around 15-1600 though. I was eating a real wide variety of food at that time, but it was all based around scrambled eggs and refried beans for breakfast and grilled chicken for supper. I remember those being almost daily dishes back then.

Looks like we had surgery the same day. I was at a stall for the last 2 weeks or better, however over the weekend all of a sudden I dropped about 4 pounds.
I am almost doing nothing right. I really want to get on track. I was not eating breakfast so I started eating Corn Flakes with 1/2 banana slicked up on top, 2% milk and a couple of packages of Splenda. I am not sure if that is a good breakfast or not, but it is good.
I seem to eat a lot of Wendy's chili and salads for lunch.
For dinner, seems like a lot of grilled chicken, although tonight we had baked fish which was good for a change.

Dan,
At four months I had only lost about 60-70% of my weight. I was eating lots of eggs for breakfast, low carb wraps for lunch, sometimes chili from Wendy's. For dinner, mostly grilled chicken. It took over a year for me to reach my lowest weight. I'm partially disabled so the only exercise I do is walk. Try to keep with the diet whenever possible. Don't sweat it when you can't. That's not to say go crazy or anything. Exercise as much as you can. That's it. You're going to lose more than you ever imagined you would. Good luck to you. Stop worrying!
