This morning was out sprinting in the deep snow (it's kind of a balance and running ergonomics exercise - if your foot doesn't slide in any direction, you're probably running right. See www.posetech.com)

8 thirty second sprints with one minute rests (heart rate goes up to 172-174 and then after a minute's break is back down to 125-130)

Was nearly gagging from being out of breath, which I'll take as a positive sign.

Good job on not letting the weather get you down.  Sounds like fun!

Thanks! Also, my heart rate max during these was only about 168. So, I'm able to get it up (hehe) higher this year. Not sure if that means I was tired last year or what.

The gym was absolutely packed with newbies tonight!  I finally got a recumbant bike for 30 minutes although I'd rather have been on an elliptical.  Then hit the weights for 2 sets of 15 all around.  Next!!
You're feet will bring you to where your heart is.

Hi Nick,

How have you been? Sounds like you're staying on track. What's RAGBRAI? Is that Afghanistan? Are you still thinking about going?

Best Wishes,

Dave

Great stuff!!!!!! Great to hear from you and congrats on losing so much.

Exercise? in Tokyo? That could be a difficult task unless you have a park or a sports club close by.

If you do have an open stretch building up to 8 sprints after warming up is one of the most efficient forms of exercise.

I hear Dr. K's hospital is offering plastics starting in April. I'll bet that's going to be pricey!

Best Wishes,

Dave

Actually, I'm lucky that way. I'm not far from here...

...it's the sprinting part that's gonna get me!!!
I dread to think how many years' wages the plastics would be...but I bet the YMC does a damn fine job of it!!!!
Keep looking after yourself...you are utterly amazing! A true Superman!!!!
