On this Ash Wednesday when the Christians among us have to fast...a question came to mind. When we are at or are approaching our "maintenance mode" or just want to help control our grazing....is it safe for us WLS'ers to use diet pills of any kind? Don't see my doc for a few more weeks so I'd like to find out now if its OK for us. Thanx...

Looks like you're about 8 months out so I don't see any physical reason you shouldn't be able to. You're probably practically back to normal again. But I'd examine the motives. I'm not trying to come off like a hard ass or anything, but after all you've been through do  you really need a crutch? To me it's like allowing a little ***** into your armor.

When looking at diet pills - better ask the Doc.  I agree with last post u dont need this.  And if you believe in fasting NOTHING of a nutritional value must pass your lips excep****er,  Fasting brings the body and mind together
Good luck

I would consult your doctor before doing anything like that. Those pill may cause problems and know many of them are known to dehydrate you and when one of our biggest concerns is getting enough water,, I dont know if testing that would be such a good idea.. BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As they say in the support meetings. You didnt do any of this to fall back on old habits. Why do it now?? You know what you're suppose to do in that situation, you've learned how to eat properly and you know the consequences if you over do it.. You dont need a pill thats probably bad for you anyway.

Better to use exercise. Now that you've had an RNY that is enough to maintain your weight, provided you don't graze to the extreme. High fiber foods are another option. As long as you have a couple of hours between meals and keep it mostly high fiber or low glycemic, you shouldn't gain. If you can combine exercise and this kind of food, all the better. The biggest drawback to diet pills is you can't use them forever.
