Lurker Impressed....
I admit that I have become an obesityhelp lurker. I generally don't post anymore..because when I find the inspiration and motivation...it often because I am sad, down or depressed. Needless to say, nobody needs a downer around. However, I have to say that as one who has been on the boards for over three years... I am always impressed with the candid discussions, the amazing photographs, and the incredible support you give one another. I know that there have been some wonderful friendships (and more) developed through these forums...and I think that it is wonderful. I want to thank you all for caring for one another, supporting one another,....it gives one hope to believe that there truly are caring people in this world.
You all deserve a round of applause for your love and caring natures!!!!

Ditto on snicklefritz's remarks. I personally think that newbies benefit the most from men who have recently had their WLS and can tell them about the early stages post-op. However, pre-ops and long timers really need successful post-ops to express themselves: either in response to what is being posted here or to let us know how their lives have changed due to WLS.
Everyone who is a regular here knows that I have struggled with grazing and my food addictions. I'm in remission on that since 01-29-09, but even before that I knew what I was supposed to be doing. Now that the grazing has stopped and since I haven't had addictive food, I'm finally on a clean program. My knees are a little better and I'll soon be able to do more exercise.
Those of you who have similarly conquered your eating demons have to let our brothers know about it. Most men do so during their window of opportunity following the WLS. If anyone is having problems, they should post here and get help.
Separately, if you are in anyway depressed, let us know. Many of us have dealt with that illness either as a chronic condition or as a short term problem following WLS. It is an illness that has to be treated like any other illness. Depending on how severe it is may determine whether you need to just see your primary, your surgeon, or a shrink. Most depression caused by changing hormones and vitamin'/chemical changes in the brain following WLS can be handled by your primary.
Sorry, I tend to ramble on once I get started. My old boss likes to say that I had a tendency to write an epistle when a memo would have sufficed.

Bob,
I am glad to hear that you have had your food demons under control for a month, that is a milestone! Keep up the good work. It is great to also hear that your knees are feeling better. It sounds as if you are getting the mental part of the transformation going, so it will catch up with the physical changes that occured when you had your surgeries.
