POLE BANDIES -VS-RNYS
I DONT KNOW WHY I THOUGHT OF THIS TODAY... But asked in another post the same question and thought I might put it out here on the regular board because I am curious.
GAS was my biggest issue after surgery.. From the moment taken out from surgery and it lasted for the better half of a week. My GAS BUBBLE from HELL.. I called it.
Do RNYERS get that too.. I know they inflate us all to do the surgery but, how bad was it and how long did it last and what did you do to try and get rid of it???
I walked A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Farted and Burped as much as possible.

I believe the gas problem comes along with any type of lap procedure. My friend had is gallbladder taken out about two weeks before my surgery and he complained of the gas too.
It took me about 3-4 days to feel like I wasn't carrying around a huge gas bubble. I think it was about a whole week before I felt like it was "all gone".

It pretty much happens whenever you have just about any kind of lap surgery - they blow you up like a big balloon so they can have more room to work inside you. My wife has had hernia surgery and tubal ligation and had the same gas pains I had after the lap band surgery. For me, it was pretty bad, lasted about 10 days. Gas-X helped a little, too. Mine also caused me pains in my left shoulder pretty bad, surgeon said it was cause there is a nerve connected to your diaphragm that runs up your left side, and the bloating irritates it. Man, am I glad that's over with.
Walk, jog, fart, burp, gas-x, that's my prescription.

I am 7 months out and I have lots of gas issues. And the smell could kill you sometimes.
I just think it is from all the protein that I am taking in.
But the gas from the surgery was killer. I thought the second night i was having a heart attack. they hooked the IKG machine up to prove me wrong, but it went away after several days.
How are you doing? I was in your neck of the woods and thought about you.
have a great day
