take me out to the ball game
In three weeks I'll be going to an NCAA basketball game and I'm wondering about eating "stadium food." Or more specifically a hot dog or nachos. NOW, to all those who would love to lecture on these horrible food choices, I want to say I'm well aware of their very unhealthy nature and plan on putting in extra gym time to compensate for them. I go to maybe 5 sporting events a year and it's the only time I eat this type of junk food.
So, how do folks do with this type of food? You think I'll be safe, or will I be running to the bathroom? The hot dog is extremely high in fat, so maybe I should just stay away from it? I assume nacho "cheese" is much better, but the act of chewing the nachos down I figure might be a little more tolerable.
I'd love some helpful feedback.
thanks.
PS - for any of those wondering: three weeks out and down about 45 pounds.

Bring your own food. If they don't allow it...Tell them it is for medical reasons...show them your scars..."Are you discriminating against me for a medical condition"??? It would be like a diabetic not being allowed to have their insulin shots available. I keep in my pockets different plain nuts and beef jerkey...just in case I get in those type of situations. Get a good protein bar maybe. You know the nachos there at the games are mostly oil...the hot dogs are...well you know what they are made from. That's why it is so important to try and plan ahead. Go Cal...Beat Stanford!! Brian
1 I agree with cabin111.
2 You're simply too close to time of surgery to be even thinking of any of that junk.
3 You should have a game plan in the future for going to sporting events. The suggestion of bringing a high protein & low carb protein bar seems to make the most sense. You'll get the feeling that you are eating something plus it will be healthy. If you are going to be gone for a while, you may want to bring 2 or three. Just note that meal replacement bars will run around 250 cal apiece wile breakfast or snack bars will be about half as much--you may way to go with 2 meal replacement bars or one of each. Drink water if you can.
4 Enjoy yourself.

I don't post here much any more but wanted to jump in on this one. I would never try anything new "out", save your experiments for the house. I have been fortunate that I have not dumped very often and have had very few problems.
With that being said one of the worst was on my way to pick up my grandson. I was probably a year out from surgery and at goal. I ate some beef jerky and I guess I didn't chew it well enough. About 20 minutes into a 1 1/2 hour trip I got this pain in my gut that would not stop. I pulled over twice and tried to make myself up chuck and couldn't. Broke out in a sweat. took about 3 hours to get over it. Since then I have had it happen a couple of more times and the only thing that helps is curling up in the fetal postion in my recliner. Another time my wife and I were on vacation in the OBX and I got the bright idea I would eat a small Blizzard at DQ, hour and a half or so later I got this feeling that I knew shortly I would need to take a dump in a serious way. Lucky I had noticed a public restroom up the street. We were visiting a lighthouse at the time. Talk about ****tin through a straw, it was bad.
I would only go with food that you know will be no problem. I know every surgeon is different, but at 3 weeks out I was still on soft foods.
