Got a Surgery Date! How long in Hosp?

Hi everybody.  My first post here.

I started the process to get RNY Sept 08.  Surgeon's office sent request in Nov.  I finally got insurance approval last week for 4/1/09 (April fools day?).  YAHOO !!!!   I had about given up. 

So, how long will I probably stay in the hospital if all goes well?  I'm scheduled for surgery 11:30 am on Wednesday.  Is it likely that I'll be home by or on Saturday?  My wife has tickets to fly to Florida with a girl friend on Sunday.  If I mess up her plans because I'm still in the hospital - well, let's just say it wouldn't be perty.

I'm going to have lots of questions, so, watch for more posts and thanks for your answers / comments !

I had RNY in Aug 08. I went in Tuesday morning - 6am. Was in my room by noon. Stayed till Friday morning. I had no complications at all. But i think each doc has different standards - so check with the surgeon.

I went in Monday morning and had surgery at 11:30 I was home by Wednesday at 12:30 for RNY.  You have to get up and walk as soon as you can.  I was up at 6 Monday doing laps around the hospital floor.  I went back to work the following Monday, too soon, I should have given it a little more time.

I went home the next morning.
As soon as I was able to take in some liquid and a bite or two of jello not throw it up.
I had an hour drive to get home, I wish I had stayed another day, because by the time I got home I felt like crap, but I don't think there was anything they would have done for me.  I just would have felt like crap in their bed.

Hey dude, congrats on getting your surgery date..... I had my RNY on a Tuesday morning and was supposed to go home on Thursday, but had extra swelling in my pouch that caused it not to empty, so I had to stay an extra day. Each surgeon is going to have his own requirements. Good luck to you!

I had my surgery on Thursday afternoon, was cleared for drinking about 1100 am on Friday and was home by noon on Saturday.

I hope your recovery is as uneventful as mine was.

Thanks for all the responses.  It's encouraging.  I hope I'm a quick recoverer. 
Tomorrow (Wednesday) I go in for all the pre-op test, dietician, exercise guru, and sample
pack of food.
