Breakfast post WLS...Rethinking it...
Thought I would start this thread concerning breakfast. Pre Op we get into a pattern of what we should have for breakfast. Things like; cereal, oatmeal, bacon, fried eggs, hashbrowns, and coffee get thrown out the window for the first few months post WLS. We really have to change our eating habits...esp for breakfast. Lunch looks a little more normal for most.
When I was early post op I was reaching for things like tuna salad, Wendy's Chili, cooked spinach, or a protein shake. I'm just thinking that breakfast was one of the biggest eating changes we have to make early on in our post WLS journey. Your thoughts? Brian

My nutritionists have said to stay under 10 grams of sugar and/or sugar alcohols and the amount of protein has to be at least twice the amount of sugar in the bar for it to be a protein supplement. It is hard to find a bar that tastes good that is under 10 grams of sugar.
My absolute favorite bars are both Atkins Advantage. I love the Chocolate Chip Granola and the Peanut Butter Granola. They have the Chocolate Chip Crisp too, which is good, but it doesn't compare to the granola. These are the ones that I could eat like a candy bar, but of course, I have to limit myself. They are getting harder to find. I'm going to have to find an Atkins store and go stock up. If you find these, you MUST try them. You'll be glad you did.
I'll check out the South Beach bars. I'm always looking for something new.

On the weekend I love breakfast. Often it will be eggs with some sort of lean meat to increase the protein. I really find that getting a good dose of protein in the morning does start the day on the right foot and makes it easier to make better choices throughout the day.

Those days of Dennys, Mikd's, all u can eat brunches, and making bacon, pototoes, eggs, waffles on Sunday for the family are days gone by for me. and besides, my wife did'nt like putting on her face early on weekends for an early brunch.
I blame it on advertising, farm upbringing an anything else I can use.
