Pedal Bikes
A couple of things. I would get a cheap, strong, used bike first. See if you'll really will use it. I would wait till you level off weight wise before spending the big bucks. Like alot of our great intentions. You should see all the exercise videos we have stored away...some we've never tired. Post op, I went from one sport to another...trying to find the one that fit me best. Just saying biking might not be it...but something else may be more enjoyable...don't know till you're there. Brian PS Biking and walking are my favorite. I really don't enjoy jogging now. Yet, other guys really get off on jogging, who never really did it in their lives until post op...You never know.
I used to like biking. Even when I was big I'd go with some friends of mine and ride his Specialized "Big-hit" model which was a HUGE mountain bike. I was just trying to get an idea of what to look for for us heavier folk so I can start hunting on craigslist or something.
Thanks!
I've even thought about getting some roller-blades.

At 330 I was riding my wifes Trek hybrid. I am guessing if you are worried about how it is built, i would guess that you could first go for a mountain bike that is priced right. It is sturdier and has wider tires than a street or hybrid, and the tires generally have more traction. Just as important is to try to get a bike that is the right size for your build.
Most important, just have fun!! When you get into the middle 200's, you can look for something that suits the kind of riding you do, ie, street, trail, mountain, etc. At that point, there won't be too many that you can't ride comfortably. BTW, I just bought a new Trek hybrid. I am as excited as when I was a kid and got my Schwinn!!!
