Boot Camp

This was a fart for me.

At my gym they are having a 'Biggest Loser' competition. You get chances to win prizes depending on how much stuff you participate in and how much you lose. One thing you get is two tickets for the raffle if you participate in a weekly boot camp.

I have not done any exercise class since college 20+ years ago. I was nervous. Especially when the instructor said take 5 laps around the gym to warm up I knew I was in trouble. Foot Dr said no to a tread mill. Ugh. But I was there and I was going to do it damn it. I have not run except recently jogging across an intersection to get out of the way of cars.

They even had us do wind sprints and I have not done that since High School! I did it and did not come in last. I hear some of you guys doing 5K running and never thought I would ever come close but I found out I believed I could not even run 5 laps around the gym and I did that too.

This is totally bizarre (I could choose many other words). I am sore as hell 2 days later but I am still thinking I will be doing it again next Saturday. There is defiantly room for improvement but I did not have to quit because I just could not do it. Who would have thought I could do something called 'boot camp'. It was not some wild thing but still it stretched my limits big time. Mentally and physically.

Invest in a good solid pair of running shoes to help with arches and other foot problems. Glad you can do it though.

Awesome job!

We have a guy at out gym that does a bootcamp class.  It is an ass kicker.
Running sprints, doing pushups, run more sprints, do situps just works you.  Bear crawls etc, and he always tries to match people against someone who is going to be a challenge for them.

Everything is done competition style.  So he will try to find someone who is just a little bit better than you and make you run the events against that person.  Trying to push you a little bit harder than you would if you were doing it by yourself.

Keep up the great work, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish.

Scott

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!

Yes I am laughing Scott. My whole class pushed me. I think there was only one lady behind me.

Push ups, wind sprints, running, jump roping, agility, sit ups and a few contortions that I do not know their names.
