Your NUT should cover this with you but post op I take a multi vitamin twice a day.  B-12 sublinguals 3 times a week. Calcium CITRATE (not carbonate) 3 times a day.

First off Congratulations on taking this major step in your life.  Your life will never be the same - It will ROCK!

I take chewable Flinstone's vitamins twice a day and Calcium Citrate twice a day, but not at the same time.  Sublingual B-12 you can get at Trader Joe's they melt under your tongue.  I take those once a day.

GOOD LUCK!  and yes talk to your nutritionist about it, sometimes things vary from DR. to DR.

Congratulations, they have a great program.  I'm going to have surgery there on April 22nd.  My Surgeon is Dr. Inman.  You will get instructions from Dr. Evanston's office with instructions for pre-op testing and such.  They want you to attend a nutritional class at St. Vincent Carmel Hosp.  It is a day long class if you're having RNY or Duodenal Switch.  I think if you've having a Lap Band it's only a half day class.  They usually want you to have the class with in one month of your surgery.  They did tell us that it's a good idea to start taking a multi-vitamin now.  Post surgery they want you to take a chewable multi-vitamin three times per day.  I can't really tell you to start with the Calcium or the B12.  They didn't not stress it to us in our class to take it pre-op.  They did say to start walking as soon as possible.  If there's anything else that I can help you with just let me know.  I imagine that you are like me and are really excited to get this done.

I went to my first session this month also.  Actually, my wife and I went there.  She is having the surgery on April 7th.   April will be a big month of change for both she and I.  We plan on going to the meeting on April 1st.  See you there!

Every surgeon has a little different plan for supplements.  Follow the instructions that you are given, my doc was pretty specific as to which vitamins and other supplements should be purchased.

Good luck
