Hey guys, I'm curious. I am two months out as of today, have lost 88 pounds, and am eating almost anything I want. I don't eat sweets or anything, tiny bites of family members, but other than that no, and am always eating my protein first. I eat just about anything that is on the menu. Like today, they had chicken strips at school, I know deep fried, and I got about three quarters of one down, while drinking my milk, and having a few bites of rice on the side. Then for supper I had a little bit of stir fry with steak in it. Am I supposed to be eating like this? I don't really measure what I eat, I only eat as much as I can handle. What were you guys eating 2 months out?

Thanks a bunch.

Once in a while is ok...but it looks like you're starting a dangerous pattern.  If you have tired to diet over the years you pretty much know what is good and bad...Fried chicken...bad...Tuna salad good.  Try and plan ahead on your meals.  Also try and bring the good food from home if you can.  Brian

I agree with cabin111.  Your food choices seem to be choices from the past.  My Doc and Nut said I MUST take the 1-8 mos out period to create new food choices and learn portion control.  He said the hardest problem will be to know when I am full several  mos. out. He said I will have my old appetite back and will test my pouch daily.  This is when the lbs start creeping back.  Going back to bad habits. More adult beverages, bread stuffs, greasy red meats, white pastas/rice, grazing,  I know the dangers.  Having that "I did it and I'am good" feeling will head me right back to fat city. Having gone through MAJOR SURGERY, failure is not an option.  Its stupidity and God is tired of me doing stupid things.
I am going to buy one of those all in one scales when I hit my 100.  and re-up my visits to my support group.  This is my biggest fear - after reaching my goal, now what, how long will it last??? I know myself, and dieting didn't fail me I failed it. Always
Good luck and welcome to the journey

You know right from wrong, that's why you wrote this - TO GET SLAPPED  Well"SLAP".  Knock it off.  Eat your protien (low fat), your veggies and get in your water.  88#s  nice start, but you are not a success yet.  I'm almost 5 years post and have held my goal weight for 4 years, and I am not a success yet.

My bad habits need to be beat away with a stick now and then even after this long.  You picked a permanant solution to your problem so you permanantly have to change your eating habits.

Plan every meal every day.  No fudging for at least the first 9 months.  Testing the pouch is the worst thing you can do.  Please start measuring your meals.  I still eat only 1 serving of foods at every sitting (one serving listed on the box).

Good luck, but only you can hold yourself accountable.

I would make an appointment with my nut.  88 pounds in two months is stupendous, I am assuming that you had RNY Gastric Bypass and, if so, why are you 1) eating and drinking at the same time.  You are not supposed to do this.  My nut says do not drink 30 minutes before a meal and 30 minutes after.  2) why are you eating anything fried and breaded?  You should be measuring your food and should only take in 4 ounces at a time.  CALL YOUR NUT!  Time to make changes in your life that you will appreciate years down the road.  I am not perfect, but this is what I ate yesterday:

Soy protein shake in the morning
If I feel like having a snack - a few almonds or nuts midmorning
Salmon and some salad for lunch
Power crunch bar after workout
Dinner last night was one slice of beef and veggies
1/2 cup of no sugar added ice cream snack (if I want it)

Hear, Hear!! The advice you've already gotten on this page is right on target.  No way should you be eating those things, esp. this early.  Your weight loss to this point is absolutely amazing and I'm sure you will continue to lose, at least for a while, even if you return to those old habits and ways of eating.  But be sure that this will catch up with you and you will soon be posting on the "Failed Weight Loss Surgery" forum.  Hey, we'd much rather have you succeeding and posting over here.

Good luck,
Merlin

I was eating pretty "normal" by 2 months but you have to always stay on top of eating healthy. Get your protein in first and then veggies and last carbs. To this day I still don't drink with my meals and wait at least 30-60 minutes afterwards to drink.

I know that if I drink with my food it makes it "slide" down faster and I can eat more, fell to temptation at a Korean all-you-can-eat steakhouse recently.

I'm at much agreeance with everyone here. You gotta use it as a tool to re-learn how/what to eat. once i got on solids i started weighing and portioning for a few weeks so I could then visualize and calorie count. I don't know what drinking while eating does for you, but it makes me burp bubblies and nearly puke if I drink right after eating. It's the toughest thing for me to hold back doing. The only thing I found I could do while drinking is Cheese with Wine. Only time i'll really ever eat fried chicken bites is when i'm going out drinking. just to get some protein and bread in me. 88lbs in 2 months is quite a feat man! Congrats!
