To answer your question, obviously we don't change anything about our post-op diet in reaction to events beyond our control.  Now, if you had posted that you were going to a party where the game would be shown and you wanted advice on how to prepare to eat, we could have a discussion on how to prepare for special occasions.  For example, we can take some foods that we are allowed to have or we can eat a small meal before going so we wouldn't be hungry nor tempted at the party.

Obviously, sports play a role as a diversion for many of us.  I suspect that many of us who are fans are used to both celebrating with food and drowning our sorrows with food.  We just have to learn to change that behavior.  We learn it at home and then can rely on that learning when we're out with others.  Dr Beck says we have to develop the resistance habit--we've spent most of our lives practicing the habit of giving in.  Now we have to reverse that behavior in order to preserve our weight loss and to mature.

We all know when the tournament begins that only one team will win it all.  The consolation game is really just to occupy the fans in the arena because every other team in the tournament fell at least one game short.  It's really hard to judge the #3 team in the tournamet to someone who lost to N C in the early rounds.  They all lost to the winner.
