One down. One to go.

My wife had her RNY on Tuesday morning and did great.  She was only in the O.R. for about one hour and fifteen minutes.  She's had no complications so far and we hope to keep it that way.  While she was on the bariatric unit she walked six miles post-op.  She said that her pain level never got higher than a 5 out of 10.  The staff at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital were great.  They treated both of us very well.  Dr. Inman did an awesome job.  Kudos to all concerned.

The post-op nutrition schedule is a little overwhelming but it's only the first day home and I know that we will get the hang of it.  We copied a schedule from someone on another post and that's been a huge help.  It really made it easier.

I go for my pre-op testing on Monday the 13th.  If all goes well I'll be having my RNY on April, 22nd.  I'm really looking forward to having this done.  I want to get on with my new life.  My wife was scared and had a lot of anxiety as this was her first surgery.  I've no anxiety or nervousness.  I know that everything will be fine.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their advice and concern.  To the "losers" thank you for leading the way and sharing your knowledge.  To the "Newbies"  hang in there and have faith.  There are a lot of people in your corner and you don't have to go through it alone.
Sincerely,
Duane and Alisica

Meal planning will be much easier in your house than the rest of us.  Both of you with RNY within 1 month.  Kudos for doing this with a friend.  Good luck, we are here for you.

I agree, my biggest frustration the first month was not being able to eat even remotely the same as the rest of my family, it will be much easier with both of you on similar diets (but different phases at first).

Best of luck to you and your wife...
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Best of luck to you and your bride! I'm sure everything will go well for you. It's true that you will eventually have it easier than most of us as I'm sure its better to have both persons in home having WLS...my wife was very frustrated at first planning meals ("What the hell CAN you have!!!") Now that I'm eating almost normal again, she now makes much to much food for dinner!! Hang in there...enjoy your liquid diet ...LOL....and sip, chew and walk!! Don't be afraid to ask questions in here also!!

I'm really hoping that we save a small fortune by not eating out anymore and greatly lowering our grocery bill.

Your grocery bill may not change all that much.  You are eating less, but the healthier food choices tend to cost a little more.  Glad your wife is going so well.  Once you get an idea of what foods settle well, it becomes so much easier.

Good Luck

We have seen a huge drop in our eating out bill! I dont eat out at all anymore since the surgery, and I used to eat at least 2 fast food meals per day.

Good luck to both of you and keep the failth!
