1 month out, feeling great, but WOW - ailments!
Hey guys,
I'm a few days past 1 month out and down 43lbs from day of surgery!! I'm feeling great and back to my lowest weight that I've been in about 4 years. I'm looking forward to breaking below the 300 mark by the end of this week I hope.
One thing I've found VERY wierd is that ever since the surgery, I've had all these strange ailments. Starting from leg/back pains, leg cramps (lasting 4-5 days), shooting pain in my upper body, and swelling of my left leg/foot. I've been on the phone with my Dr. about all of it and then was in the ER last week when the leg/foot swelled quite a bit, they checked for a clot and said I was ok and not to worry. My foot is still sore and hurts when standing for long periods.
The most recent is pain at night when laying on my back (always have slept this way) and on my left side. Then if I take a really deep breath I feel the same pain in my side and back area. I end up sleeping on my right side only (last few days).
I will admit I've never been one to sit still, the most was the first 2 weeks after surgery, but since then I've been walking 1 mile a day, have travelled outside the country twice for work, as early as 2 days after the staples were out, and also to Ohio for a trade show. I thought the activity would help, but not sure if it is or not.
The worst part is I'm 40+lbs lighter, and before I never had any of these types of ailments. I feel like I've aged with all this stuff happening, but maybe it's just my body trying to adjust to the new plumbing and intake changes? Anyone experience similar stuff?????

No ideas...well maybe one...but a real long shot. Lack of sodium or potassium. I would add a small amount of salt to your diet. You might want to have some of these things (high in potassium). None of these things should hurt you, and can only help you. Things high in potassium; oranges, tomatoes, raisins, spinach, lima beans (Wendy's Chili...I add cheese to mine), bananas, yogurt, broccoli. Add some salt to your veggies. Brian
I've been sure to keep up with my water intake at 64oz per day and unfortunately I think a lot of the chicken I'm eating for dinner is fairly salty. One thing is the potassium. I haven't tried to incorporate any banana's or similar to my food.
I'll see if the Dr has any insight today.

I ended up getting gout in my ankles the last couple of days in the hospital. I walked around the hospital without the gout more since I 've been home with it hahaha. It started in my left foot and moved over to my right. I've been taken meds for it but its still nested really nice in right ankle not so much in the left but its still a lil tender.
