Good morning, gents.
I am a long time lurker, and just got my surgery date. I will be getting a Lap RNY on 5/26/09. I have had periods in my life when I was thin, but I have been heavy most of my life. I turned 40 and really began to feel the weight drag on me, so I was prompted to explore wls. My primary reason for the surgery is for my daughter. Having lost a parent before his time, I want to spare my daughter that particular suffering for as long as possible.
I am excited about getting the surgery, and look forward to getting to know OH folks during the process.

Good luck, i've found this forum (and others) to be very useful. It really helps to talk to other people that are dealing with the same things you are or have walked in your shoes. Leverage the hell outta OH...
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

Good for you, Max! I also have a 9 year old daughter and I want to be healthy for my family as well. My wife and I both had RNY and are doing great. I have lost 92 pounds and she has lost 107 (my wife had a two month head start). Needless to say it is nice to have someone along on the journey, who understands, and who calls you an idiot when you do something wrong. This message board is a lot like that as well. I have found that here there is a lot of support and strait talk about what the journey is all about. May 26 can't come soon enough for you I'm sure. Get as much weight off before your surgery as you can and then after follow the rules and you should do GREAT!
