FEELING?
Keith,
I had no reservations nor second thoughts about the surgery for me or my wife. I do admit that I've got a unique perspective on the WLS from working in the health field for over 22 years and being in the O.R. when these surgeries are performed. I've seen the patients pre-op, operatively, and post-op. I've seen the good and the bad up close and personal. Actions speak louder than words.....I'd have the RNY again in a second without any hesitation.
My wife's surgery was April 7th, 2009 and mine was April 22nd, 2009. She has lost 55lbs and I've lost 67lbs. I'm down almost four sizes in shirts and went from a 54/56 in pants to a size 48 and shrinking. I've even gone from a size 15 in shoes to a size 13. These surgeries was one of the best things that my wife and I have ever done for ourselves. We're healthier both physically and mentally. We have more energy and stamina. Now, after I've worked a nine hour day I'm going to mow my lawn and go for either a five mile walk or a twenty mile bike ride all before dinner. I'd never have done that 67lbs ago.
My advice, breathe, have faith, and think positive. It will all be fine and you'll soon be on the losers bench too.

Duane i dont know why this feeling swpt on me this past weekend. I guess it was when i was sitting there watching TV and all these food commercials started popping up which i now change channels quickly. Then i got the thinkings of what i have asked here. I know it will be better. This afternoon has been more reassuring for me with everyones assurance. i can only imagine what you have saw in the ER there. I looked into a bike this weekend and going to go that route after i found my old one and well, no one told me bikes were $129.00 and MORE now..lol
thanks for words as this is what is helping. I know once i get there and start ill be ok. I guess what really naws me in the back of mind is the leaking..i just have to get over it..

Food commercials? I'm watching the Food Network right now as I'm reading OH. I watched Food Network my first day home from the hospital. Doesn't make me hungry at all because I'm watching the cooking techniques and not thinking about the end product (well, maybe small portions of them!). Of course, right now the host is talking about mold, so it's no wonder I'm not hungry!
I remember the night before surgery waking up my wife at 2am (since I couldn't sleep anyways) and asking her if I was doing the right thing? She assured me I was and after that I was good to go. Remember that you're a walking cardiac issue anyways, by not getting this done. You have thought (and probably prayed) about this for months and I am sure like most people, you have researched the heck out of this issue...from all sides. Take a breath...and get ready for the ride of your life. Brian
You are taking the frist step of a major change and event in your life. It is only natural to be a little apprehensive. The journey begins with the surgery and continues the remainder of your life. The ride is so different you will be asking yourself why you didn't do it sooner.
Just don't think yourself out of it. Sometimes we over think situations and can change a good choice into a bad one. You have made the chocie to change your life. Keep thinking of all the positive gifts that you will receive from this new imporved phase of your life.
