Another question

FIrst off HAPPY EARLY 4th....Second, I was wondering, has anyone had problems with their anxiety post surgery? The reason I ask is as some of you may know I've posted about heart palpatations a while back as I was having boughts of what some thought was dumping and some thought was a heart arythmia.

Currently, we still do not know what it is. I am on a 30 day holter monitor that has live monitoring and I've had episodes but they say that there is nothing to report urgently to the cardiologist. They forward the mini EKG's to him and he's reviewed them and says so far it looks normal.

This leads me to believe its starting to be all in my head. My surgeon has done a complete panel and besides the typical B12 and D defeciencies everything else was normal. My live function test cames back at a 44 but the scale range I think was 24-40 so not to high as neither the PCP nor the surgeon were worried.

Has anyone here had panci/anxiety attacks before surgery? I am on 10mg 1x a day of prozac and have been for about 2 weeks so still waiting on it. They have prescribed me Valium and Adavant for these attacks (which I haven't even filled the scripts yet) but I want to know if anyone else out there has this issue and how to control it...=)

You mention your primary angd your surgeon but have you considered seeing a psychiatrist?  I've been manic-depressive for years before WLS and continue to have treatment for that condition monitored by a psychiatrist.  He's a specialist and a MD.  Most ins compaies don't require a referral to see one but you should check with your ins.  You may have to go to a shrink  who is part of your plan and you will probably need to pay a co-pay.  On your initial visit, you would probably have to come a bit early and fill out a medical history.

My brother suffers from depression and was having his meds prescribed by his primary.  He finally changed to seeing a shrink a few years ago and likes the specialized care the shrink can give him.
