Two week Nothing from BCBS

Im Anxious, it would not be so bad but the doctor is setting appts at the end of august and if I do not get a date before the second week of  sept. then I will have to delay the whole thing till like november which I do not want to do. Have a big thing coming up at work and want to at least be 4 weeks out before then. So we will see.

We were told up to three weeks for approvals.  I'm sure you're checking in with the doctor's office to keep up-to-date.  Have you asked them (or have they volunteered) to call and check on the status of the review?  Can you call BCBS on the pretense of asking if there is more information they need or something like that?  I'm a great believer in being "proactive" - but not to the point of being a PITA unless the situation seems to be at the point of going out of control.  More flies caught with honey, and all that stuff. 

One of the problems that you run into at this time of year is that the people in the doctors' offices usually want to take some time off in the Summer like the rest of us.  This usually causes delays.  You may just have to be patient in waiting to have the WLS.  It is worth the wait.  Let the doctor's office know why you are anxious to get the surgery soon.  Your reasons for expedited handling may not be any better than anyone else's, but the doctor's staff won't know unless you tell them.  Also, advise them if you are available if there is a sudden cancellation ( even after waiting for WLS, some people cancel because of personal cir****tances or plain old jitters).  Good Luck.

Yea, I have called twice. First time they just told me that they have 14 days to get back with me from day it was submitted. I called today which is 15 days out and she was like for surgery dated 9/9/09. Im like well I do not have a date set yet but that must be it. She told me it is waiting approval. She said its waiting for the nurse to view the record. Im like OK so I will know something today. The lady said no they have 15 days to get back with me. I said ok Today it will be 15 days So I will find out something? Got no answer. I think the doctors office is going to call back today also.We will see.
