Stall

I was losing pretty steady in the first 6 months dropping 115lbs since surgery.  Now in the few weeks I have stalled at 281.  Its starting to get a little discouraging.  I am running nightly for 2-3 miles.  I have been using a cookbook for weight loss patients and eating very healthy.  I think I'm going to go back to the shakes soon since I haven't been seeing any progress.  Its getting highly annoying.  I'm at the 7 month date today and have only lost roughly 8 lbs in the past month.

Any suggestions?

On a plus side all of my 2xl shirts are very loose.  I'm waiting until I can fit comfortably in a L until I buy new shirts.  My waist is at 36-38. I don't think it will get any smaller then that.  I'm barely at an A cup anymore but my skin is a bit stretchy, its kinda wierd, I hope that goes away.  I didn't experience any hair loss, my sex drive increased.  When i lay on my back I can cup under and almost behind my rib cage and sternum, that is an odd feeling.  I can start to see the outline of a six pack behind the fat and loose skin.

I will give you the same advice I give everyone in a stall...  Make sure to eat often at regular intervals.  The more often you eat the faster your body will re-adjust and take itself out of starvation mode.  Then the weight loss will take off again.

Keep up the good work!  You did mention that you have lost 8 pounds in the last month.  That is 2 pounds a week.  Not too bad for 7 months out!  Try eating a little bit more, or changing up your exercise routine a bit...

I know that my surgeons said that your stomach grows to its new regular size within 6 months post op.  Once you are at that point, you can continue to lose rapidly but you will not normally lose as fast as during the first 6 months.  Experiencing stalls is just a normal phase of losing weight.  I've read that you really shouldn't be concerned unless you don't lose anything for 6 weeks.  It seems that our bodies just occasionally resist losing weight so quickly.  Just keep it up and, suddenly, you'll find that you drop a lot of weight.  I also suggest weighing yourself less often.  You may want to try less frequent intervals such as every other day, once a week (which I liked when I was steadily losing weight), or any other interval that works for you.

Just remember to keep up your protein and fluid intake.
