Motion sickness?

Greetings y'all!

So it's been a real long time since I've passed through here; do I need to scratch my balls then hike a leg and rip a big greasy one to re-validate my membership?

I hope everyone is doing well and making progress on your own path!

My purpose for stopping by is to ask a question that only my fellow post-op folks can answer.

Since my surgery, I have once again had the thrill of riding roller coasters and other amusement rides.  The down side, is that I have noticed that I am much more likely to experience motion sickness.  Not so when flying or boating, but amusement park rides are a guaranteed ticket to queasy land.  Haven't puked yet but have strongly considered it a few time.

Anybody else noticed that they get motion sick easier after surgery?

I noticed the same thing.    However, I hadn't ridden the thrill rides for awhile because of the weight.   When I tried again this summer, I found that I couldn't tolerate them as well as I used to.  I just assumed it was me "getting old".

I still enjoyed them -- just didn't feel up to riding them 2-3 times like I used to.  :)

I'm not the right person to comment on this since I get dizzy just going back and forth on a swing.  But, I didn't as a youth and I used to enjoy roller coasters also.  As I've aged, I've started to get lightheaded if I bend over and get up too suddenly.  My doctor says this is not uncommon with many people as they age.  It started happening to me in my late 40s and may not be related to your weight.

I suggest that you mention it to your doctor the next time you see him.  It's probably nothing to worry about but, rather, something to be aware of.  In a similar fashion, I've had a problem with matintaining my balance on occasion.  What I've found on that is that I can't turn and look at someone addressing me while I am walking or I start to lose my balance.  Instead, I have to stop, turn my head slowly, and then react.  Being aware of what causes the problem on a physical level allows me to develop a strategy to deal with it.  I don't know what the underlying problem is, but I now know that I am safer if I don't react quickly.

You may want to think about taking motion sickness meds before getting on the rides.  If that doesn't work, you can decide if the rides are worth the queasy feeling you later feel.
