My brother tells me to tell them I had stomach surg and i am on a special diet..

I want to take cottage cheese and some string cheese. Maybe some yogurt.

They may give you crap about the cottage cheese or yogurt.  I fly quiet a bit these days and most solid foods are OK.  I recently took Subway (minus the drink) through security.  Which airport are you flying out of?  Most of the larger airports have a ton of options for purchase after secuirty but they're more expensive of course.

Dittos to what Dragon said.  It will save you some hassle going through Checkpoint Charlie to just buy something once you get past security.

I think you could easily put some string cheese or protein bars in your carry-on.  Cottage cheese and yogurt may be too liquidy for them.  I suggest you check with Delta - or the TSA - and get info firsthand.

Don't know about the food thing Joe.  It's been a few years since I've flown.  What I will say is that I bet it's MUCH more pleasant for you to fly now that you're post-op!!!!

It would be worth the head rush, and money, to get a round trip ticket for the day just so you can have the experience.

Idea:  Fly the Mrs. somewhere for supper and back.

Flew recently and carried yogurt and string cheese in a mini cooler, no problem at all!  They did put it through the x ray machine at the security checkpoint but that was it.
