Post RNY Day 1

Surgery yesterday went very well.  My surgeon, Paul Kemmeter was Great!  He not only did the RNY, he also repaired an Unbilical Hernia I had for years.  I've been walking, drinking, and doing really well today.  Most of my discomfort is more related to the hernia repair.  Now very happy to be home and on the road of my "new" life!  I thank God, my loving and supportive wife, Dr K, and the GREAT Staff at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Congrats! I'm having the Duodenal Switch with Dr. Kemmeter on Monday, May 3rd. He is a fantastic surgeon, but an even better person.

How was St. Mary's? I hear it is very nice.

Piliper - You are right, Dr K isa great person.  Tops in my book.  He prayed with me and my wife before my procedure.  Thats not something you get from many surgeons.

St. Mary's was excellent! I intend to write a letter to Phil McCorkle and name the nurses and CNAs who provided such an excellent experience.  I was on the 4th Floor in the New LACKs building.  I believe that is where all Dr K's pts go.  All the rooms are private and the staff was fantastic.

Best wishes on your procedure in May!  The prep diet is a little rough.  I was starving, but I am glad I stuck with it and lost about 20 lbs pre-op.

Will keep in touch.

Howdy!

Good luck in your journey.

I noticed you have the same start / goal weights as myself. I am 5' 10" and had JUST hit the 40 BMI before surgery.

I am down SIGNIFICANTLY in a little over four months, so, I wish the same to you.

Good luck!

Cheers!
