OT: Your Profession
For those of you who don't know Durinda or De as she's known in real life....she's a saint and she was my angel. That woman works harder than anyone I know and I don't know how she'd ever manage a "real life" job.
Now for me. I'm mostly a stay at home grandma now after raising my husband's two sons and my son to adulthood. My husband and I are now raising and have had guardianship of two of our grandchildren for ten years. They are a girl 15 and a boy 12. Both are very active in everything and I truly mean everything. We are their major supporters so I haven't worked in many years.
I have just recently been called to go to work at a local jewelry store where I worked over 20 years ago. It's very much part time but so much fun getting back out into that working world again. I will be having my plastic surgery on Sept. 28th and then after the recovery period the part time will be a little less part and more full time for the holidays.
I also am a grandmother to eleven other grandchildren so I have thirteen total and I'm very involved with them. I've babysat for three of them since they were babies and will continue to do so even as I work at the store.
So while my "career" hasn't been as glamorous as some, it's been very satisfying to me.
Huggssssssssssss,
Frankie
I know I am late with this, but it was so cool to read all of the info that I wanted to do it too.
I work 30 hours a week in the office of the church I attend as a receptionist/secretary and what ever else the 6 pastors on staff need. I have been there for 4 1/2 years and befolre that I worked in advertising for 10 years. Before that I worked in the medical field. I miss medicine and patient contact very much and am trying to get back into that field.
I have 5 children and 5 grandchildren, a wonderful husband and a big 80lb four legged baby (dog) called Toby. Life is good and very busy. I am blessed.
AWWWWWWWWWWWW thanks Frankie
I don't do HALF as much as you do!!
I talked to Maxine a few weeks ago and told her she better hurry & ask you about working cuz you were going for your final consultation.
I didn't know she talked you into it already!!
I forgot to tell u that in Beckis jewelry, I found a garnet locket and it had 2 very old pics in it from like the late 1800's or early 1900's, mom looked & it was my dad's mom & dad, Grandmother & Grandfather Jones pics in it. ALso a oval gold broach like pin with a glass covering that had something braided in it. Mom looked and it was hair from my dad's first haircut!! lol
Man I lucked out, Robert almsot threw them away!
Huggs to you,
D

Can I still jump in here? Better late than never, right?
I am mom of two girls 18 and 3.5 and I work at home as a medical transcriptionist. Ive worked in the medical clerical field pretty much the last 25 years. Its all I know and I love it. Ive toyed with the idea of going back to school for nursing, but won't really have the time until my little one is older and in school full-time....and then again, she wants to be a skater, so maybe I still won't have time.

With all the talk of how much everyone enjoyed this thread - I had to go find it to see what all the hype was about. And I must agree, it's pretty great! So I'll add my post to the array of others.
Right now I'm an administrative assistant and have been in this position for about 18 months. I'm loving it, but do miss the "community" of my last job as an environmental program coordinator. The recycling industry in Michigan has afforded me many great life-long friends and I miss the constant working relationship with them. But to pay the bills I stepped up to this position and am having fun with it.
Besides my day job I also run a business as a professional scrapbook designer. That's right folks - I make scrapbooks for a living. You hand me your box of jumbled pictures and I create a work of art worthy of passing down to generations. Hardly sounds like work, huh? I recently remodeled a room in my house to be my scrapping studio and spend most of my time there when I'm home.
I'm single so don't have to worry about kids or a husband taking up any of my time. But the 2 cats sometimes act like bad-tempered children and often take up more then their share of the bed at night.

Well, if we add one or two a day, pretty soon it will be in the hundreds!! To pay the rent, I work for the US Army as a Travel Specialist. I help people with their travel arrangements and problems. I have been here at TACOM for over 26 years. For my sanity, I am a professional properties designer in theatres in SE Michigan. It is great fun to be able to get creative and help put on stage productions. I love it.
