Hi this is Allie from Clarkston. I had prox. lap. RNY August 30th and have been doing great, barely any pain from the get go. I've lost about 22 pounds so far, since surgery, then 93 pounds to go (that sounds SO much better than 100 pounds!!). I am an RN and a lot of people I work with have had the same surgery. With each of their successes, I was more encouraged to have surgery. I especially appreciated the people I didn't even know from work, approaching me and introducing themselves and sharing their experiences- I felt so much better! I will be sure to do the same for others if the situation arises. I love reading all the boards and learning more about the surgery and lifestyle changes. I especially love to see everyone's before and after pictures, I could look at them for hours. Can't wait till I have some of my own... Anyways, I've been a member here for a while, but just never posted anything- just read a lot. My first support group meeting is supposed to be this Thursday, but I have to work Thursday night so, so much for getting to a support group! Terrible. But I love working 12 hour night shifts. Okay - HIIII everyone!

Hello Allie!!! Welcome (officially) to the Board!! Glad you decided to join us! I remember when I started my journey and I would absorb every bit of info, pics and profiles on this site....how inspiring! It made me realize I TOO could be healthy and happy! I won't kid you, I've had my trials with some weight gain recently (mind you, I'm almost 3 years out now), but I have no doubt you will be successful! Just follow your Dr.'s instructions, DON'T TEST THE WATERS (I swear this my favorite quote!) as far as sugars, carbs, etc., because there may come a time when they don't bother you as much. You don't need them and it will only re-trigger bad habits. I am still WAY ahead of the game with still 100 lbs off, and am extremely happy I've had this surgery. And I have every confidence that you will be successful!! Congratulations and welcome to the Board! Theresa

Hi Theresa I keep hearing this from other post ops, don't even try it. Right now I don't even have a desire to. If I CAN tolerate it, I don't want to know. I already had one dumping episode from a protein shake, didn't have hardly any sugar in it, so I don't want that to happen again. Once was enough. Congrats on your huge weight loss! You're an inspiration! Allie

Hi Allie from Clarkston..........WELCOME and congrats on your success!!!!! I had open RNY July 19, 2005, have lost 50 percent of my total body weight (now down to 155lbs) and am scheduled for a tummy tuck on October 27th, 2006. I work in Broadcasting and have since 1984....either radio or tv. I was a Pro DJ in radio, and in TV I have stayed away from the cameras. (in front of)-- I chose to work behind the scenes and still do. Never had a desire to sit and read script for the world to see. Let the pros do that. Not me!!! LOL. I welcome you to MunchkinLand and hope that in your journey you find many adorable and kind friends (here you will find Oz and The Wizard)....plus lots more!! Again, WELCOME and HIIIIIIIIIIIIII back!!! Stacey W

What they said, welcome, enjoy, know that it will be difficult to explain that you couldn't exercise because there were new posts, and .... oh yeah, get all your protein and fluids in or you'll be as flaky and forgetful as I am.
