I was 347 pre-op two weeks before surgery (6-15-04), down to 172 (two pounds from goal), used to wear a size 3x or 4x or a 30W. Yesterday, I received a size medium pant/top set from QVC.Don't usually order pants in a medium because they don't fit around my gut, but just thought I would try and guess what? They fit! (And actually the pants were a little loose!) My BMI is now 29, so that makes me in the overweight category instead of super morbidly obese. I got a new knee nearly three months ago (they wouldn't have done that when I was 347 pounds). I think that's a lot of WOW moments. Eileen Briesch West Michigan

Well...I want to put a different spin on this thread because I think too much emphasis is put on weight numbers alone. So for me, I want to show some other information that is also important: Body fat percentage: Prior to surgery at highest 52% Now: 45% Inches lost from surgery date up to 4/13/07. Overall inches are from start of weight loss on 1/20/07 Neck: .5 (1.75 overall) Bicep: 1" (2.75 overall) Forearm: 2" Chest: 4" (4.5" overall) Waist: 4" (8" overall) Hips: 2.5" (7" overall) Thigh: 2" (5" overall) Calf: 1" (2" overall)

Yikes!!! I didn't mean to sound upset about the question. I just wanted to give a different perspecitve. As I'm sure you have seen, many people get so discouraged because their weight loss stalls. I want people to know that there are other numbers to give a person a boost when the weight loss isn't up to speed. Sorry, Crystal for coming off wrong.

BTW...you can find body composition scales online. They provide you with your weight, you body fat %, you muscle mass, your water weight and bone mass. They are kinda pricey, but save alot of misery when the weight number doesn't move.

Ok well two weeks before my surgery I was at 325lbs. Today I am at 265. My wow moment was when I put on a pair of pants to go to work and with in three steps they were falling off. I have had to put more holes in my belt and need to go shopping. I hate to shop . Scott

Hi Guys, I was 319 at pre-op consult......312 on day of surgery........198 now. I have more to go until goal, but I'm not worried about it. Today I went to a funeral, and even though it was my grandmother's and that was sad, I know she was so proud of me for being sucessful with my surgery. We had a luncheon afterwards, and I was starving so I was the first in line. I wasn't embarassed anymore. I didn't feel like people were laughing at me because I said I was hungry. My sister laughed at me because I was running in the parking lot to get out of the rain and my pants fell down. Yep, time for a little more shopping I don't know my measurements. I have really really really bad sagging skin, but would still have surgery; absolutely no regrets.

Im sorry to her about your grandmother..... My grandmother died 1yr ago she was 95.. you know her funeral was one of the most beautiful things... All of her family all the memories of the special ways that she touched our lives and the values she gave us. I know Im lucky to have had a woman like her in my life and now Im trying to pass those values and special ways down to my daughters.
