12 weeks out... Feeling so full so fast still... is this normal ??
Hello~
Tommorrow is my 12 week "Anniversary" (down 62#) and I was just wondering if it is normal after, lets say 5 bites, of something to feel so full right up to your throat. I remember pre-op when I would eat a big meal, I would feel so "full" right below my rib cage, and now the fullness feels more like in my upper esophagus. Just wondering if this is a normal feeling. Sometimes it actually hurts for about an hour and then I end up throwing it up just so the discomfort will go away. I still tend to play it safe with cheese, cottage cheese, shakes.... just to avoid that feeling.... but it would be nice to add variety to my diet, but seems when I do... I just get too "full" to fast. I do eat slow and chew, chew, chew..... so any advice would help. Many Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Lisa,
My 2 year anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks and my tummy has it's ups and downs. Sometimes I can sit down with dinner and eat with no problem...smaller portions of course but still manage to get it all in. Other times, I can take 3 bites and feel so full I want to get sick. I think it depends of the "heaviness" of what I am eating, the speed at which I eat, and how much I chew. I can never tell though. Yesterday, I was able to an entire BLT, toasted bread and all. It took about 30 minutes but I ate the whole thing. Last week, I made a cheese sandwich and had to give 90% of it to the dog. Weird. This tells me my pouch is still working so I listen. When I feel the fullness coming on, I stop eating--and will often spit out the last bite because I know how I will feel if I swallow it.
You can add variety, even if it means only getting a couple of bites in.

THANK YOU everyone for your suggestions and comments..... I am learning and sounds like it will be a "long term" learning session with my new stomach.... I agree there is no rhyme or reason to what stays down and what doesn't... I have been taking longer to eat and that does seem to be helping alot !!!! New habits are sure hard to learn..... but I must be patient.... I am feeling so good already.... I will do whatever it takes to continue my success..... many thanks again... I love all the support from everyone on this site !!!!
