I just wanted to share some pictures of my kids and I. I've been a member of OH for a long time now and had my surgery in March of 2009. I lost a total of 160 lbs. The following year, all three of my kids had RNY and collectively, we have lost over 650 lbs!!
To see my kids living life now and enjoying doing things they never did before just brings tears to my eyes. I see them participating in sports, hanging out with friends, doing things normal kids do, yet things they never did because of their weight. During their high school years I could see the pain in their eyes as they were teased and called names because of their weight. I am so grateful for what this surgery has done for my family.
Recently we did a commercial for Hurley Bariatric Center which is where we all had our surgery. I just uploaded a few pictures onto my profile from the day we shot the commercial so you can see the before and after of the kids.
My daughter had her surgery May 10th and has lost 130 lbs, my sons both had surgery on Dec 13th and are down 185 lbs and175 lbs.
I tried to paste a picture in this post, but not sure if it will work, if not, you can see them on my profile.
For all of those going through the approval process, or recovering from surgery and wondering 'will i ever make it to goal' just know that it can be done!! My kids and I will forever be grateful for the chance to live a healthy life.

It looks like all the numbers are good for me, and I like the price. I'll give it a try.
Regarding taste of all protien bars. My boss who runs marathons and eats protien bars had the best line.
"There are only so many ways you can flavor mud"
Momofsix,
Wow, the coincidences just keep comming. I live right across the street from where you work, on Grand River. We call it heaven and hell. Hell because of Grand River, Heaven because we live on Woodland Lake.
I think soup would be idea, and maybe walk it off afterward by doing a couple of laps on the Tridge and downtown Brighton, but is should probobly wait till after you recover from your sugery.
I do have one problem, I live in Brighton, but work in Auburn Hills. It means I don't get home from wor****ill about 6:00 or 6:30 most days.
Regarding empty nest: Its a great thing. Here is a converstion I had with my daughter as we moved her into college.
Daughter: "Are you and mom going to be OK with me gone?"
Me: "OK, hell, you'll be lucky if I don't change the locks!"
BTW, my daughter knows my sense of humor and knows that I was joking (maybe).
Hi Bunny
Sorry about your job loss, I hope you find something soon.
My wife says I sometimes need not to try to solve problems, but just offer sympathy and support. I have two things going against me in that department, I am both a guy and an engineer. My whole life is problem solving.
So here goes with my version of support.
1) have you checked into the state No Worker Left Behind program. My wife was laid off after 31 years with the phone company. She got unemployment, and the State of Mi paid for school for her for two years. She now has an Associates Degree and is a Certified Medical Assistant.
2)MOVE, MOVE and then MOVE some more. I am also food obsessed. After WLS a recently started falling in to bad habits, particularly watching TV and eating late in the evening. I found myself coming home from work and plopping into a soft chair and turning on the TV. The only difference was after WLS is I have more energy to fetch my own food instead asking my wife to bring me something. I am lucky enough to have a good treamill and a rowing machine. I now execise in front of the TV.
To both you guys,
Trick your body. I work with several guy who are really into fitness. and they tell me the body adapts to routine. If you havn't been exercising for awhile really push your self for a few day. Conversly, if you are working hard but not seeing results, slow it down or even take a two day break. They swear this works. I have slowed to a pound a week, so I am trying to pick it up with and intense week starting today. I'll let you know if it works for me.
Just noticed I got very long winded, sorry about that.
And again, if anybody wants me to back off on the advice, please let me know. I don't want to offend anybody.
