I am so thankful for OH

You would think they'd be everywhere.
GHP in Grand Rapids offers a couple of different support groups (they are open to everyone)...
As the others have mentioned, the peer support group (for all surgery types) is held every Monday at GHP from 5 - 6 pm
The topic related support & info is at GHP on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of every month from 5:30 - 6:30 pm
***They also have a list of all of the support groups in outlying areas with info on thier website***
http://www.grandhealthpartners.com/default/patient-resources /tools-for-you
(Scroll down the page and you will see links to adobe (PDF) documents listing both the ones held at GHP and the ones that are not)
There is also a Duodenal Switch support group at GHP on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 6:00 - 7:30 pm
I hope that you can find one from this list that will work for you and your schedule :)
Kevin Sloan the psy who ran last night's Wed support group. He brought it up that we should go. Bariatric or not...it's going to have a lot of good info and people who have lost their weight and kept it off are going to be the speakers. I will Private Email you my work address and we can easily make sure we are going!
Karen Duty will help you....she's very busy so stay on top of her...or call in a day or so if she hasn't called you back! You are absolutely right about "everything happens for a reason". We all want this to happen quickly but we must be patient. The weight has been on for awhile and it can wait a little longer until all the stars come together!!

Yesterday I got some potentially bad news....well not necessarily bad news, just a set-back. Apparently my BC/BS (PPO) does not cover physician assistants, which was whom my initial medical evaluation was going to be through on August 9th. Apparently she's covered under their normal BC policy not the PPO part. Which honestly does NOT make any sense to me! But when I called over to BWCC to reschedule to a medical physician for the medical evaluation, the lady said she would have Karen Duty call me today to see what she could do with my insurance company. So we'll see I guess. If BC/BS is going to be such sticklers, the medical physicians are booked up until probably the firs part of September.

That "Lifestyle Change Lecture Series" on August 1st sounds pretty good. Are you going to that? Perhaps we could meet up then!
