Pay for a support group? Seriously? My doc has groups in Madison Heights...Dr. Wood, Harper Bariatric, I don't know if you went elsewhere if that matters if you can go or not, but might be worth a call. I work in Troy, so I could be available at times..I'll send ya my info.

Topic: RE: Has anyone gone through the Barix Clinic in Ypsi??
Thanks everyone for all the replies and advice.   I attended the orientation and met Dr. Paplowski and he seemed very knowledgeable about VSG but I have decided to go elsewhere.

My internist and local bariatric surgeon (only does bands and RNY right now) recommended GHP and after attending their orientation, I was very pleased with Dr. Foote, their program, and most of the staff I have encountered.

I've met with the internist and will see Dr. Foote and the "behaviorist" next Thursday.  BCBS of MI doesnt require any special tests other than the psych and internist with my co-morbids so I hope to be good to go very soon.

Found out in the recovery room after a recent knee scope, that the local surgeon is training under Dr. Foote and will soon begin VSG's in the Owosso area.  That's great news for others in the area for future surgeries and support groups.  I have heard great things about him also.

Looking forward to joining you on the other side!

Thanks again

Topic: Support Group in Royal Oak or Nearby?
I think in this day paying to get together to encourage one another post-operatively is a cruddy thing to do.  However, I can't seem to find a group locally that doesn't cost some obscene amount of money to attend, or find a free group.

Soooo....

Are there others in the vicinity of Royal Oak, Oak Park, Ferndale, Berkley, Clawson who would be interested in forming a small support group?  I found a fantastically safe place to meet.

If you're interested, please reply here, but also send me a private message with your name and an email address.  Let's see if we can get something together.

Toodles!

As for insurance, I hope that you can get approved.  My biggest thing was I had a stroke in 2009 and thought for sure that would be my denial.

Good luck
I went to find him on OH website
