I know the feeling.  I had my surgery just before Thanksgiving 2006, and I had chicken broth for dinner while the turkey passed in front of me.... But I made it through.... You will do it and you will not regret it....  Good Luck with your surgery.... Hope you have a speedy recovery....

You will be able to eat normal food again, trust me.  But you will be eating healthier and more nutritious food pst surgery!  The liquid diet is tough, no doubt, but once I made it through the first few days it became easier.

You can do it!!!  Just remember why you are doing it!  And Jean is right, I too can eat treats made with spenda such as cookies or pie on special occasions.  You can pretty much alter any recipe and make it with spenda to make it sugar free.

Good luck to you!

Believe me, you will be able to eat real food again - well, nutritious food.  You may not be able to eat junk food again - but that is not what your body needs.  I dump on sugar, but there are plenty of sugar free treats that I can eat in moderation for a special occasion.  Too many carbs make me feel bad - so that is my reminder not to eat that way.  I just love all the food that I can eat - lots of protein - eggs, cheese, turkey jerky, tuna, etc.

Can you drink tomatoe juice on your liquid diet?  Can you have sugar free pudding?  I thought the stuff on my liquid diet wasn't bad, I just missed chewing.   :-)

I am soooo hungry and I am like having real fear of not being able to eat normal food again with taste, that isn't gritty.  Did anyone else go through this. The soups rock I could eat them all day long but I am not allowed.  I am hope I am not the only one sad that I can eat a no bake cookies and other lovely things ever again

Hi there!
I remember you quite well. I used to go patrolling all the boards - MI included after having my RNY done in thestates.

Rather than Lapband have you thought about Weigh****chers?  We become like everyone else with our weight, our addiction comes back/emotional eating and all that stuff. Sometimes doing a back to basics program helps you refocus on the prize.  Some swear by the 5daypouch test but I'm not a fan.

Good luck!

Topic: RE: Has anyone gone through the Barix Clinic in Ypsi??
I had my surgery at Barix with Dr. Pop. He is an EXCELLENT surgeon. He's done way more VSGs than are mentioned on the statistics on OH. I know his first VSG patient personally. He's an excellent surgeon, formerly doing transplants.

Barix though definitely lacks in aftercare. If you can find a Centre of Excellence I would go for that - a comprehensive program will give you a better chance at making long term changes with their support.

Topic: Anyone go to Oakwood Hosptial in Dearborn for VSG?
I'm just curious, I haven't seen many people going here for their surgeries? I meet with Dr. Bacal on the 9th of May and wanted to get some other patients 'take' on him.  I have read his reviews but they are all from last year and nothing after November, I believe.  I really like Terri the Nurse Coordinator, and Amy the Office Manager seemed really nice also.  What do you guys think?

Thanks.
