Wanted to let you know that permanent custody papers were signed on the 3rd of July.  I now have full physical and joint legal custody of my grandson.  I have now moved from my one bedroom apartment to a two bedroom town house apartment.  Have had some issues with my grandson.  I think some are from the move, but a great deal are in connection to the anger issues from living with his mom.  I'm working on getting my grandson evaluated by a child pshcologist.

I am so happy for you that someone suggested that you go to someone with expertise.  It truly is the right thing to do.  I have struggled with mental health most of my life and it wasn't until the last two years that I have been with the right clincs and doctors to help me.  It has been the best thing ever!  I am really happy that this has brought good things for you in your mental health! It has been helpful for me.  I see so many people, here on the board, struggling, so I wanted to share my little bit of knowledge in hopes of helping somebody else have a better, easier, life.

I also agree. While I, myself, have  no person experience with it.... my  best and closest friend does. His physician prescribed him two medications for ADD symptoms... he had a hard time concentrating. Later he learned that those meds should NEVER be taken together. He learned that after he turning into a totaly stranger, stopped talking to me (best friends for 8 yrs -- attached at the hip), his family... stopped going to college classes... and became anorexic and....ultimately suicidal. It all ended with him calling his physician and telling her, "I feel like I am going to kill myself, I need to be taken to a hospital." After that.... he left the meds behind. Now -- he has only turned to psychologists and psychiatrists for that type of help.

Wow!  Glad to hear that your friend came through that intact.  there is so much relief in finally knowing that these swings may finally end.

Happily, they are shrinking some, so when I smile, you can still see my eyes.     Yep, those PCP's are doing the best they know how, and sometimes that's enough, but for many it's not.  It wasn't for me.

Thanks Christi! It's good advice and what I will talk to my therapist about Wednesday and have her refer me to someone in the clinic.  I know my PCP is trying his hardest and the efferex or whatever it is seems to be working but a second opinion sure wouldn't hurt... *hugs!*

Hopefully your PCP nailed it the first time.  But sure isn't a bad idea to get a second opinion.

Thanks for this post! I'm currently taking some anti anxiety meds that got messed with when I was in the hosptial and it made me realize how benefical they are. I'm also a graduate student working on my degree in counseling and psychological services. And if there is ANY I have learned from my own personal experience and my training.... it doesn't hurt to go in. We go for annual physicals why not an annual mental health check. Many chemicals effect our brains and how they function, many life events change our current realities... my point is it has only helped me to have a 3rd party to bounce things off of and say things that are on my mind but I fear to say them to others.

Just some additional thoughts for you all
