Need some support and prayers
So many thanks to you all for the thoughts and prayers... every time I was weighted down today I felt like there was someone there with me helping me carry on :) Thank you.
Instead of dragging out a decision, I made it today. I'm going to fight this.
I work for the Post Office as a clerk. In fact, it's my first real job lol
I started at an encoding center as a data conversion operator where after 2-3 years I ended up with bilateral carpal tunnel. 2 surgeries on the left and one on the right and years of PT and they never came back so I have a lot of numbness, weakness and pain. I also ended up with a torn rotator cuff on my right side. Surgery worked miracles on that :)
They say I was outside of my restrictions and I say I wasn't and this is what I'll be fighting. It's not clear cut but what ever is these days... we shall see what happens.
So after Friday I'll have lots of time to write statements, socialize my puppies :) Take long walks... maybe even break into a run here and there if I can get over my fear of falling :) I might even take out the bike that is sitting out in the yard watching me :)
I'm going to look forward to the good things in life... our local renaissance faire - my grandson being born - seeing the other 2 grandmonsters - and relaxing in the sun while I have the chance.
As far as working, I'm supposed to look for work while I"m off and I"m not sure if they will allow me to draw unemployment. I can live a while off savings but hate to deplete that. Have to see what's out there within my restrictions (in short- no lifting over 20lbs and nothing repetitive)
Thanks again for the prayers. I felt good making the decision and I know that was in part due to all you wonderful folks and the good vibes coming my way!!
*HUGS!* to you all
Lori...I cant believe this is alredy coming up. Just now that you have a lot of support and prayers on here and you wont be going through this alone. One thing for sure is after your daughter has her baby and baby is six weeks old...she needs to go find herself a job and support herself. i dont know how old she is but I haave been supporting my kids for 15 years...yes my oldest jsut turned fifteen and I have never been married so if I can do it she sure can. As far as your hubby goes..well if he isnt willing to contribute financially..then why should you support him!! You are way to good for this and its time Lori takes care of Lori. My thoughts and prayers are with you!!

Hi Lori, take a deep breath, and know everything will turn out the way it's supposed to. When I was terminated after 9-1/2 years at Medica, after the MS (disability) diagnosis, I filed with the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). They'll do an intake of all your details (include as many doctors' notes and transcripts, plus all the meds and treatments you've gone through. They will also contact your employer for their information, although it IS a medical issue, and you must focus their attention on that, rather than who from work saw/heard what. (I also used to work for State of MN Workers Comp bill review, so am aware of the inside/outside of workers comp). Do NOT resign! Let them let you go, and fight your darnedest! It will be worth it in the end! Also, it may be prudent to contact Midwest Disability Attorneys (they work on contingency) after you're able to receive any percentage of disability status. For additional general information, contact the MN Attorney Generatl's office 651-296-6196. I tried looking up phone numbers for the EEOC as well as Midwest Disability Attorneys, though having optic neuritis, just wasn't able to locate them. Also, do you have a MN State WorkForce center in Duluth? At some point depending on which direction things go, they would be an excellent source for re-training. Hope any of this is helpful to you! Best of the best, as I truly understand what it's like having a dual fight for both your health and means of living. If I can be of further help, please PM me. Hugs galore, Patti
Never let your memories be greater than your dreams.
