I cried the whole time....
It seems like torture right now, but it does get better. In the moment, it seems like you are caught in a hellish limbo, but you really aren't. It gets so much better as you get to advance your food choices, and then again when you get to start eating larger quantities. Now is a great time to reach out for support, to read all you can on the emotional side of wls (WLS for Dummies, Emotional toolkit for bariatric surgery, and other related books that you can find on amazon). It's also probably not a bad idea to avoid those "temptation" situations as much as you can for right now. Down the road a month or 2, it won't bother you to sit with the fam while they eat all the "good stuff," but right now, it's just torture. Heck, in a couple of months, you will more often think about how very much they are eating in one sitting, and how unhealthy the foods are, and you will be thankful that you are in retraining and feeling so much better than you used to. You will soon find that all those "good foods," aren't as appealing, or even as tasty, as they used to be. It is completely normal, and ok, to question your actions. Just try not to get too down on your decision, you did the right thing, and soon, you will know it!
