Sometimes you need to time before getting a new pet. Hang in there!! Millie is not suffering anymore and is in a better place.

I haven't been on much so didn't realize you were going through this. So sorry that she is gone. Pets are a part of our family, and their even better because they can't talk back, get in arguements with us, etc. Their great companions without all the bull crap. It's tough to loose a pet, but it will get better. Take your time to grieve.....Remember all the good times. When I had to put our dog down, I made a picture book and wrote things next to them, it was great therapy for me........Memories can never be taken......... Take care and you'll know when the time is right for another dog........ (((HUGS))) Kelly

I have a photo of her I want to put on here but I can't make it work so I'll have to wait for hubby to come home.  I think she was really cute but then every mom thinks their baby is cute......

Gwen Take time to grieve and don't let anyone stop you from that.  It's part of the healing process.  Life will get easier as time goes by but don't expect miracles.  Tears will come at the most unexpected times as will smiles and laughter  :) You are in my prayers and thoughts.  Seems you are in someone else's thoughts as well (your very very smart kitty!) *hugs*

Yes, as luck would have it I ran into the groomer at Cub today.  Millie went to this place since she was 8 weeks old.  She was just there about 6 weeks ago.  I told her what happened so she would know why Millie wouldn't be coming in for her regular appts anymore and we both cried in the cleaning isle.

Gwen, I'm so sorry about your loss....  I've lost two dogs and two cats in my lifetime, I know how empty my heart felt each time.  ESPECIALLY when the decision to end their suffering came from me - even when I KNEW it was the right thing to do, I felt so tortured by it... Some people can't bring themselves to "replace" their beloved pet, feeling it would be an insult to the pet they lost.  That's a totally valid perspective. For me and my family, we've always found a new pet as soon as we could to replace the one we had to say goodbye to.  I prefer to think of it as a testament to the love we had for the one we lost - that he/she filled our hearts so much and made our lives so much better, that we had to try to find that with another.  And there is nothing like a poopy to put a smile on your face, even as the tears flow.   But that's just me.  I would only suggest you not refuse to consider the possibility.  Elena's quotes are just perfect...

We have always done the same thing pretty much, within a week or however long it took we'd have a new little fur baby yapping through the house.  But it's different now that we are empty nesters and want to travel a bit.  Hubby got home on Saturday and was very sad about what happened while he was gone and how the empty the house felt without her.  He really misses her and some of her little silly things she'd do.  He wants to get another dog but very small so she could travel with us in the US but when we go out of the country I'd still need a sitter.  We still have our daughter's cat too which helps, and our daughter said she'd sit for us and so did a friend, but the friend lives to far away.  She'd have to take the dog home with her but she says her dog likes other dogs, and he's small too.  I'm just kicking alot of things around right now, and I am still sad over losing Millie.  I have cried every day since I put her down.
